I want to know what the URL is, right now.

I'd like to give the perpetrator a big prankster thumbs' up. That's just brilliant.

Plus I'll check out the porn while I'm there.

I have mixed feelings about this.

First, the guy was smart. No doubt about it. He found a mistake when he got curious about something and decided to take advantage of it.

Second, I'm sure he needs the money. He's been out of work for a while, and he's dead right about porn bringing in the most money (and attention) for the website.

Third, Microsoft is innocent of this. They did'nt make the game and did'nt do anything to it but publish it. It's not their fault.

On the negative side --

First, what was this idiot THINKING? Yes, he was smart and he's right about Rainbow Six 3 being a mature game, but hijack (basicaly) a URL and fill it with Porn? What kind of example does this set? You guys realize this could be another black eye for ALL VIDEO GAMES again, right?

Second, why did'nt he contact UbiSoft about buying the URL but before doing anything with it? I'm SURE UbiSoft would have been more then happy to buy the URL and prevent this from happening in the first place. It was just a accidental oversite.

Third, does this guy really WANT this kind of media attention? I should as hell would'nt.

I won't comment on whether I think it's right or wrong, but I think UbiSoft should fire their PR guy. Their stance on this issues makes them look like ginats assholes. Furthermore, as far as "considering legal action", I don't think UbiSoft has a leg to stand on. They're probably just trying to scare the guy into taking down the page. I mean, really, unless they copyrighted or trademarked the URL placed in the game, for what would they sue him?

I don't think they would be able to sue. The webpage was unclaimed he claimed and put porn up. What kind of a stance would they have in court? Ubisoft just looks very stupid now.

LOL! That's awesome. I'd have bought it, and then offered it to Ubisoft in exchange for tons of promo stuff and games. Tell them if they want it, it'll be cheap in terms of URLs, but that I want a bunch of free gaming stuff!

There was nothing there when I clicked on it...just the URL in black letters at the top of the page. Am I missing something, or was the "fun stuff" taken down?

(Same thing here. Doesn't look like a pr0n link to me much, does it?)

I didn't post about this yesterday when the topic came up, but I became aware there was a copy of Rainbow Six 3 sitting right in front of the monitor as I was reading it :)

obviously, microsoft most likely threatened to shut his live account off forever, so he probably shut the site down (for now). the whole thing, funny as it sounds, was an idiotic play on his part. he SHOULD have contacted both companies and asked to make a R63 FAN site out of the link, then he would have at least gotten in the news for a good reason...
