View Full Version : Can you still register for that new Zelda bonus disc?

I just realized that for Christmas I got two games needed to register for the Zelda bonus disc in Mario Kart: DD and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Is Nintendo still running this offer, and where on their site would I register? I already have all the games on the disc, but what the hell, I'd take it for free.

I'm pretty sure it's still available. Just go to Nintendo's web site, and sign up for a "My Nintendo" account... once you have that, there should be an option to register your games. I think you also have to register the serial number of your Gamecube. Once you do that, They'll send you an email saying you're eligible, and that they'll send the disc soon.

I registered my games right after Christmas, but my disc hasn't arrived yet (should show up any day now).

Yes indeed! You have to register with My Nintendo (which isn't bad at all) and then you'll have a link you can click to register your Nintendo products (GCN, GBA, select games). You'll unlock special stuff for most of the games you register (mostly wallpapers, mp3s, buddy icons). After you register I'm fairly sure Nintendo sends the game your way automatically.

Only problem is NOA will spam the crap out of you! :) One day (Dec 23rd, naturally), I got 5 spams from them. *shrug* It's a trade off ;)

You have to go in and unsubscribe to the tons of newsletters they automatically sign you up for. That should take most of them away.

They do send the disc once you register your gamecube and 2 required games though. You don't need to fill out any additional order forms.

Chunky, that means nothing, it took forever for my Zelda disk to get here, and I got the NP subscription on the first day, as soon as the Nintendo phone line was running. And I never received the email that said that it was shipped (the info was instead posted in My Nintendo).

BTW, I finally got the January issue of NP (I've had the February issue for about 3 weeks already). In it, it says that the Zelda bonus disk offer is available till Jan. 31. I also noticed that they're a bit more realistic in their assession of the delay before receiving the game: it says that it takes 4 to 6 weeks (I guess Nintendo originally underestimated the popularity of this offer...).

Only available till the end of the month, huh? Well, I guess everyone better get out and get as many copies of the game as they can, cause not only could they sell them for a profit after that they will be nice collector's items! :)

Still, I wonder how many ended up getting released into the public.....anyone else think it could be as high as a million?

I don't know if it'll be a million but I don't think it's going to be *that* much of a collector's item, if at all. There were a *lot* of Gamecube's sold during the promotion from what I gather, plus a *lot* of people signing up for NP (such as myself).

I'll reserve judgement on rarity until after I see how many of 'em are for sale used at EB et. al.

these definitely won't be rare at all. there's tons of them.
so to get the disc from nintendo.com do you have to register a system and 2 games or can you register 2 systems and 1 game and still get the disc. i've got a gcn and gba but mario kart dd is the only registerable game that i have. :o

I'm baffled as to why people pay $40 for a copy of the game on eBay when they can get a 1-year subscription to Nintendo Power & the game for $19.95 online (or free if you use the registration cards).

What's going on with the price of this disk? I'd assumed it was sold out based on the eBay prices.

I registered over the weekend and I recieved a confirmation email that it was shipped out.

According to the Nintendo rep that I talked to last night, there were 1 million pressed and by far the most responsive and successful promotion ran.

HA! I was right. Thanks, Achika! :D

Now I just wonder how many Game Cube bundles with the Zelda disc in them were sold.....if we knew that, not only could we know how successfull that promotion was but also roughly how many were given with subscriptions and how many with discount codes.

I AM curious to see how many end up in the used section of EB and GameStop, though. At my local EB I've only seen a couple of the Zelda OoT disc.

I wonder what they plan to do with the leftovers once the Jan 31st deadline hits (assuming there are any). Perhaps we'll see them on store shelves after that.

Does anyone know which games are registerable?

I just got a Cube and have crap games, so I'm looking to pick up some new ones anyway.

Now I just wonder how many Game Cube bundles with the Zelda disc in them were sold...
I'm fairly certain that they weren't "bundled" per se, but the disc is given separately with the GC purchase. I say this because I saw a fat stack of 'em lying on the counter at K-Mart. Trying to play dumb, I asked the checker, "How much do those cost?" His response indicated what I already said.

Yes they were bundled in the same box. The ones you saw were copies that Nintendo sent previous to the promotion. Those were for retailers to give away with any black or indigo cube that was "regular" that they previously had in stock. During the bulk of the promotion, discs were bundled inside system boxes labeled with the Zelda sticker on the outside (similar to the Super Mario Sunshine promotion). After the bundles were sold out (atleast to Gamestop) a second shipment of discs were sent along with an email that we could start giving them out with the Platinum Cubes since that was all we were being shipped.
