Hello. I sure hope I'm posting this in the right forum!

A friend of mine is going to Japan next week and I was wondering if anyone here has ever been there and if they could offer suggestions on where to find some cool games and such in Japan. He will be going to Nippon but will stop in Tokyo for a weekend.

I'm a big fan of the Turbografx system so I'm hoping he'll find me some cool hu cards or CD games but I wanted to try and point him in the right direction. Are there video game stores on every corner in Japan? :)

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Right forum would be Import Gaming. No big deal.

Wait until GaijinPunch posts; he'll be much more helpful than the rest of us landlocked North American types :)

That said, there's a place called Akhibara...described as six blocks of electronics and computer stores. It's often described as having great deals on expensive goods (one fellow found an i-Book priced at about 650 British Pounds, and noted the same model cost nearly 2000 "back home") but I'm quite suspicious as to the prices on video games there. It's worth checking out, of course, and you can (probably) be quite selective as to what you pick up. Keep your eye on the exchange rate and try to find mint, complete items if you can help it :)

You'll find supply but rarely any cheap deals in Akihabara, simply because most of the stores there are clued up on what games are worth. You'll need to explore the lesser busy areas and shops to get bargains.

Thanks for the feed back. It's a start. I'll do some searches on the web on Akihabara and see what I find. I'll definitely write up a list of games and a price guide for my friend on stuff to look out for.

The main thing I'm hoping he can find is a Kisado adapter and some hu cards. I've got a few import hu cards now but can't play them without the kisado!

I eventually want to get a DUO so I'll ask him to keep an eye out for CD games also.

Also hoping he can find a Radiant Silvergun (Saturn) copy thats not to ridiculously priced! I'm a huge shooter fan.

Thanks again.

Doubt he'll find a copy for under 10,000 Yen really... they price them well there too, though not as expensive of course as it is here...
