Forgive me, I'm kind of new to all this. Last year, I attended my first gaming convention (OKGE), and I must admit, I'm ready for more!

Is there a list of all the major gaming conventions, and what dates they are held on? Or at least, approximately what times of the year they take place? I live in Oklahoma, which doesn't appear to be too near any of the conventions (except OKGE, of course, which was in Tulsa).

I'd like to attend a couple more conventions this year, so what I'm really looking for is a list of the biggies -- the ones no DP'er should miss. Of course, since I'll most likely be driving, proximity and size will be somewhat of a deciding factor.

So ... what are the no miss conventions of the year?

I think that the two currently announced shows that will be the biggest this year are PhillyClassic 5 and the Midwest Gaming Classic.

PhillyClassic is taking place in Philidephia on March 20 and 21st. It's a large show with a ton of dealers. The biggest thing that is happening (announced) so far is the inclusion of Videotopia, a huge museum-quality (it is a traveling museum piece, actually) video games through history display. You can visit their Web site at http://www.phillyclassic.com/

The Midwest Gaming Classic is an event that I help to co-organize and it will be held in Milwaukee Wisconsin on May 22nd and 23rd. This event covers all electronic gaming, and will be having lots of different stuff. The biggest thing currently announced is probably that Gene Cunningham of Illinois Pinball (owner of all Bally, Williams, Capcom and Alvin G. pinball rights) will be at the event and will speak. The biggest video game news is probably the museum that I believe features every US-released console ever, and a ton of other ones too! You can visit the Midwest Gaming Classic online at http://www.midwestgamingclassic.com

The two events that dates haven't been announced yet for are probably the Austin Gaming Expo and CGE.

The Austin Gaming Expo is closest to you in Austin, Texas. Last year, this show started with tons of interest and I would expect it to get both much bigger and much better this year! It should be awesome. Their Web site is http://www.austingamingexpo.com/

Lastly, CGE is the oldest Classic Gaming Expo in the world, having been held in Las Vegas since 1998 (?). The show has always featured a lot of video game personalities and game releases. There are rumors that the show may move to California. You can check out their Web site at http://www.cgexpo.com/

Hopefully, that is a good starting list of events for you. There are lots more smaller regional events, but I think that those are the four shows that are going to be huge (1000+ attendees) around the country this year :)

Sure enough. I am ready for my kick-in-the-crotch now. :)

It does look like Austin is the closest ...

Austin: 390 Miles.
Milwaukee: 880 Miles.
Las Vegas: 1115 Miles.

Yeah those are going to be the big four.
Even though VGs'04 is not considered a big event (I agree it's not as big
because we are only in our second year(which is a try out time to see if we can improve it from last year)) doesn't mean you shouldn't stop by and check us out.
