Hi! I just need the BOARD from a Genesis Model 1.. please check the CPU type (it is the big chip between the Cartridge Slot and Video/Power ports) and make sure it reads either MC68000 or HD68000 .. both of those are OK. SCN68000 with a big S logo is NOT acceptable, I can't use the one with that CPU type. If the chip is not where I described it and is instead somewhere in the middle of the board, and tiny and square, labelled MC68HC000, I also cannot use the board. I will provide disassembly instructions if you need them, but it's really pretty self explanatory.
Needless to say, the board needs to work, but that's ALL I need. No controllers, no connectors, no power bricks, no games.
Please make a reasonable offer via post, PM, or AIM (Epicenter713).
Gracias. :D

What do you need it for, Epicenter? Are you trying to add a s-video out? 8-)

Wouldn't it just be easier to pick one up from a thrift store and open it up. I find them all the time, if you still need one I might be able to pick it up for you.

What MAS2600 said, check the thrift stores. Your Location says USA so that's not much help......But when I was in Nevada and Florida....it seemed like every Goodwill had 2-3 on the shelves towards the back. most of them didn't have anything with them like hookups and all the good stuff. But as you said you don't need them. I think that would be your cheapest bet. One at a thrift store could run you $5(given the right thrift) and one shipped to you would be roughly $5....so a little searching could put it in your hands soon, which would be a bonus for me :-P

It's easier to ship and costs less to ship, that's why. I don't need the casing, or the RF shielding, and it's near impossible to break the MD by opening it that way.

MarioAllStar2600, how much would you want to mail me the board?

I have a Genesis One "board"
If you want it, $15 shipped. I am NOT taking it apart. That makes no sense. If you are going to modify from it, you can do it, but it is silly to ask any one of us to do it and expect a good deal unless you are paying for labor.
I accept paypal, and I have at least 5 of these.

Genesis MK1 models are a pain in the ass to open, there's locktight on the screws holding down the metal shielding.

and so ,,,, what i throw away the rest of the unit?
i mean ill be honest... if i had just the board,, id just give you the thing for free,,,, but why kill a good system?
thats like telling somebody to rip the ECU out of an integra that runs, and just send the ECU and throw the rest of the car away.
what are you gonna do with that thing again?
i remember you pm'd me before but i cant recall what your project was.

Well, to me, the rest of the casing is dead weight. There are no other active parts on the machine, just shielding and such. Disassembly is also easy (Bratwurst is right, they put epoxy on one of the screws) but you can usually just pull it off without much difficulty.
.. also, unless I *know* that the CPU type is MC68000P8, HD68000P8 and NOT 68HC000P8 or SCN68000, I can't very well shell out cash for it, as only the former 2 CPU types will do.
I'd like to keep the project's details until it's finished, then I'll make a topic about it. As well as a writeup as to how to perform the modifications yourself. :) My digital camera willing, I'll have some good photos, too. :D

Well in the interest of science , I'll take apart some of my Genny 1's and try to find you one. :o
But I better get some love for this, Man. :D
And no, I don't mean it that way you filthy animals. LOL
