Anybody use DVD X Rescue to try to save their damaged CD?

I have a program called DVD X Rescue. It's supposed to help me save my damaged DVD's or game cd's or music cd's.

I tried using it to save one of my Sega CD games that don't work. I copied all the files from the CD, to a folder on my PC. Then I used Nero Express to copy that data onto a blank CD-R. But the CD-R won't work in my Sega CD drive.

I've backed up some of my Sega CD games to CD-R's and they have worked fine, but I can't get this game to work.

I probably did something wrong. Does anybody else have DVD X Rescue, and they've used it to rescue one of their game cd's that won't play?

Maybe they could give me some pointers on how to do this. The built in manual in DVD X Rescue doesn't do a very good job of explaining things to people that aren't good with computers.

I've used that program before, or one very simular, but not for what you're trying to do. It works great for recovering files off floppies (I briefly worked in a school computer lab, very handy to get files off a 'dead' disc.

I'd recommend picking up a Game Doctor or simular device, it takes off some of the plastic on the bottom of the disc, until you get past where the scratches were. The disc should then be usable and copyable. I've used used it on scratched up XBox demo discs and PC CDRWs.

One last thing, I think SegaCDs need the audio track to work, which you didn't get off the disc with DVD X Rescue.
