My dad saw an ad in the "swap-n-shop" listing for ibm for a buncha C64 crap...

Commodore Video Model Model 1702
Commodore Disk Drive 1541
Commodore 64 Keyboard/Computer
Commodore 64 Mouse
Commodore 54 1764 RAM Expansion
SPECTRA Video C64 Joystick
Power Supply C64
All cords and manuals (No box)

For 20 bucks, he bought it for me. I'm happy with all the stuff for the price, but did I score big or bite the dust?

EDIT: Also got a TI99/4A at Goodwill for 2 bucks computer only, I know that can't be bad. =p

The C-64 score is bigger than the TI-99/4a, actually :)

VERY nice.

Your Dad done good. Shoot, I'd pay $20 just for the 1702 monitor alone (my dog destroyed mine  ).

If thats a 1720 ram expansion, it's worth more than the whole lot on ebay, so I'd say it was a good find.

I picked up 3 of those ram expansions last year and sold them on ebay for $19.99, $24.99 and 28 US each respectively, IIRC.

Cool thanks guys! BTW The RAM Expansion is exactly what I said, it doesn't have anything on the label about 1720

This would be a pretty awesome find on it's own, but the REU turns it into an amazing find. Those things don't show up very often.

While we're on the topic of Commodore scores, here's my own: Back when I was in high school (about 8 years ago now), I was still using a C-64 to play a lot of games and such, but I accidentally fried it by shocking the joystick ports (damn them for putting the on switch right next to them!). I was talking to my friends about it in class one day, and my teacher overheard me. He mentioned that the school had some old Commodore machines in a back room that weren't being used anymore. He showed them to me, and they were two very complete and working C-128's! I talked to the principle, and he agreed to sell me one of them (They probably would have thrown them out otherwise, and I was an honor roll student, so they knew I'd at least use it). So, for $20, I managed to get a C-128, a 1902 monitor, a 1571 disk drive, all necessary cords and power supplies, all the software that came with it (CP/M and some demos), as well as all the manuals and a huge programming guide that still had a $30 price tag on it. All of it was in really good condition too. I don't know what they used the computer for, but it obviously didn't get used very often. That's probably the best find I've ever had, and maybe the best I will ever have. That machine saw a lot of use over the years, and it still going strong.

I wonder what ever happened to the other C-128... sadly, it probably got thrown in the garbage...
