Hi!

I have started to work on my next ColecoVision ports, Yie Ar Kung-Fu I and II. Both were released for the MSX computers back in 1985. Interestingly the first game was released even before the famous coin operated game, so don't expect a direct arcade port. In fact these games started the series! Later, Konami ported the first MSX game for the Famicom, but the second one stayed as a MSX exclusive... till now.

YAKF II uses twice times as much memory as the first game, so I decided to start with it.

Here is a list of features:

YAKF I -
5 enemies
1 scenary
1 bonus stage

YAKF II
8 enemies
4 scenaries
hidden bonuses
versus mode

Eduardo Mello

Bellow are pictures of the second game.... These will be probably my last MSX ports for a while.

Awesome! You rock.

Just one comment though... YAKF II was also released for the Commodore 64 (and therefore not MSX exclusive). It doesn't look as nice as that though!

Po-Chin looks like the comic relief in the game, like a fatter Dan Hibiki or something.
Anyway, these games will be a welcome addition to the ColecoVision library, especially for fighting game fans who've been stuck with nothing but Chuck Norris: Superkicks for all these years. Yeech!

Po-Chin's weapon is his flatulence! LOL
Yen-Pei uses his ponytail and Lan-Fang uses deadly fans. Aside them there are fighters using knifes, magical masks, bombs and the final boss, Emperor Yie-Gah (Flash Gordon's Ming the Merciless twin brother), uses lightning bolts.
But there are helpfull items in this game too, like magic soaps and power teas.
There is even a very interesing trick in this game: all MSX computers feature two cartridge slots. If you place YAKF II in slot 1 and YAKF I in slot 2, Young Lee's father (Lee, from the first game) will occasionally show up and help you with a restoring tea... Now I just need to figure out how I am going to implement it on the CV version... :hmm:
