FS & Wanted: Laptop

As many of you know, my apple iBook G3 500 is for sale. The thread has been up for many weeks and nobody seems to be interested. The thread has long since washed down the last to my knowledge, so i'm not going to push it real hard here. But, it is still for sale.

Now, what I'm looking for: Compaq or HP laptop(prefer compaq) with a processor running atleast a Ghz, and no less than 256mb RAM and the rest really doesn't matter much. It all just depends on the price. I can buy a new Laptop from Compaq with all the latest bells and whistles for $1200 or could go with a less featured one for around $800-900. So what I'm getting at is that I'm not interested in a Compaq laptop with a P3 933mhz for $700.......it would just be silly if I didn't spend the extra money and get something new and something with a warranty. So the big picture is that if it's not the latest thing, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on it. And hopefully that all makes sense. I don't expect anybody will come forward but I'm trying to keep my avenues open....

well I believe I found a laptop finally and my iBook will go to ebay here shortly for a quick BIN only auction and then if it doesn't sell then I will be posting it sunday as a full 7 day auction with BIN and no reserve......just thought I would add that for now. And I will post the link here when it goes up.

My only input would be that laptops are notoriously either impossible/difficult/pain-in-the-ass to upgrade, so get what you want the first time around. My current laptop (Dell C640) came with a 20 gig hard drive, but will only accept a 40 gig max, even though they sell an 80 gig now. I think my processor is non-upgradable, although I was able to add RAM.

well, my laptop is on ebay. It started last night, it's BIN only until Sunday. I started it at $750 which I know is steep.....but I always do it when I do BIN only....so anyways, I now have it at $725 and will probably drop the price respectively each evening about $25 if anybody is looking to get a good deal, i guess you'll just have to be in the right place at the right time. So anyways, here it is:

And I believe I've found something as far as what i'm looking for, managed to get a 1 year old Compaq w/Targus case and 2 year no fault warranty for roughly $800+shipping.

It has a P4 2.4ghz, 512mb ram, dvd/cdrw, xp home, 40gh hd. yadda yadda yadda, 15" screen. That's about all I can think of off the top of my head.

Anyways, the guy hasn't officially came through on the deal so if anybody wants to contact me with one for sale then by all means, because i'm still looking until this deal is closed.

EDIT: the only thing the laptop I'm looking at doesn't have that I would like is integrated 802.11b or the newer 54g for wireless networking. Does anybody know if this can be integrated now? Or does anybody know of a wireless card that doesn't stick out quite so far? I just know I would end up snapping it off somehow......
