quick dragon's lair question

i just purchased this off ebay, and am really disappointed in the condition of the disk, it's obviously been skip doctored. now, it seems to work fine, although when it says "lives x" it sometimes takes longer than other times... and there's no music in game. now, i've never played it before, should there be music? or is my disk f'd? thanks

forgot to mention that... for sega cd.

and, i just was playing it a bit more and got past the drawbridge (took me at least 15 tries! i suck), it starts going into the next scene, and it locks up... great... there will be an irate email sent to seller.
