Straight from Magicbox (http://come.to/magicbox):

* Super Mario Bros (Nintendo)
* Donkey Kong (Nintendo)
* Excite Bike (Nintendo)
* Legend of Zelda (Nintendo)
* Ice Climber (Nintendo)
* Pac-Man (Namco)
* Xevious (Namco)
* Mappy (Namco)
* Bomberman (Hudson)
* Star Soldier (Hudson)

Nintendo also announced they will release a new Famicom styled GameBoy Advance SP in Japan on February 14, for 12,500 yen, the system will be released simultaneously with the Famicom Mini series.

Gotta love the Big N... The Nintendo Difference: We've run out of creative ideas.

I may be showing my ignorance here, but....

Isn't this the same GBA SP that everyone says is impossible to get?

Also, can't you already play famicon games with a flash cart and emulator now?

Damned double post. :angry:

Somewhat. The limited edition one given out through a contest had gold stickers to simulate the control pad's faceplate. This would be Nintendo's cheaper alternative to what must have been a large public outcry, I'm guessing.

I will import these. Maybe not the SP, but I knew Nintendo would do this. A while ago, there was a pic of the limited Famicom SP that had a pic of the SMB Famicom game on a different-looking GBA cart. I MUST get some of these for nostalgic purposes.

If I can get the SP for a reasonable price I'll be more than willing to open the wallet.

Wow, that's so awesome! 20 year old Nintendo games for $20 each! Woohoo!

Unfortunately, *I* am being sarcastic.

ooo! the little boxes are SO cute!

But I'll pull out my NES. I'd rather play new stuff on the go, rather than games that I've had for 15 or so years.

$20 is a stupid price. Perhaps for $10, I too would have imported them. Lik-Sang anyone? Maybe I'll just have to import Zelda and Mario. THOSE are worth it to me.

mmmmmmm.. it doesn't have the gold. But it's still 3r33t. I want one! :D

WTF? There's no Japanese lettering on that box. But damn, it so makes me want to import it!

Do GameBoy's have Regional codes? I heard they don't. If I were to import one of those babies, would it play all the US games?

Please say yes!!!

I don't see the appeal here. If all 10 games were on one cart maybe, but even then I woldn't be too sure. And what's with the picks? There's already a good Pacman port on the GBA. Excitebike is in the Ereader series...

I semi-agree. I just like the GBA itself with the colors. And yeah, you can play all NES games on a GBA with a flashcart and an emu (matter o' fact I got all those games on my custom .gba image ironically). So to me, getting individual carts isn't that worth it. But still, they look really nifty as "mini-famicom" carts I have to say. I'd love to have a couple if they get affordable. But that GBA?? I WANT ONE :D

Oh boy!

I must get the SMB & Zelda games. Maybe I'll import the system with CueWarrior if they are reasonably priced, but the cartridges are a must buy.

Given I'm a flashcart user, so I want these for 'gotta have it' sake and not really to play with.

Oh, come on folks! Gotta love the Zelda no Densetsu *1* packaging on Zelda...wonder if it comes with all the stuff the original Zelda no Densetsu *1* came with :)

Looks pretty nice, more like an original Famicom than the last special edition version that was out there. It's obvious that Nintendo released those to pique the public's interest, and had these ready for release the whole time. Nice move if you ask me.

i've posted this before but i'll post it again lol... send me ur GBA SP.. and a can of white spray paint.. and some red spray paint lmao..

if nintendo wasnt full of money hungry bastards they'd just find a way of like.. doing GBA covers.. kinda like cell phones.. but that could get complicated.. also these new Famicom colored GBA SP's... are they gonna cost more? if so then Nintendo = M3ch4 3vil..

also i mean.. in my opinion its stupid as hell, but its a good marketing idea...

Nintendo's moto: If a system/handheld starts selling in fewer numbers... come out with a new one of a different color.. charge alot more.. start the process over.

i really want a GBA SP... and the famicom colors look pretty damn cool.. but if i would have to import it, then forget it..

also.. does the GBA famicom colored one the exact same thing as the Famicom SP.. except for the fact that famicom SP will have famicom games? kinda confuses me.

I guess I am the only one that thinks those are ugly. I would rather have a solid color, or a solid color with some images printed on them, or something. Then again I'm not very partial to red.

I wouldn't mind checking out Star Soldier and SMB1 on the sp, as well as a few others. portable NES games are sweet.

I'm up for Mappy and Xevious, and maybe even Donkey Kong and SMB1. :-P

I will say it now and i will repeat it many. As soon as these are available on Lik-Sang, and I bet they will be, I am soooo getting one. I don't care the cost. Give me a GBA, SMB and Zelda. I gotta have these!

Especially after seeing the packaging. That's my favorite part. I will be promtly displaying these in my collection. Daaaamn they're cool.

Of course, the day I but these, they'll release retro US versions in US type packaging... which will present a problem. LOL

Overall, I'm not attracted to the GBA look. But the second I saw the box, I said "I HAVE TO HAVE THAT!!!" It will be well worth it in the long run. I just wish I could afford to keep them mint. But these will be played. I have wanted a GBA version of SMB forever since the GBA was released. The old SMB DX seemed so outdated, I wanted a native one. And now we will have them. Yay!

Now.. I assume these games will have all Japanese text? Or will they smartly put English in there as well?

So THAT's what the "Origin of our TV games" logo that we were all woondering about is used for (See upper left corner of box).

That looks VERY sweet! It might actually get me into importing stuff, just so I can play Mappy on the go. |\/|APPY F0R3V3R!

Is Lik-Sang going to handle these?

As long as SOME importer does. It will be the first.. no, second thing I've imported from Japan. I forgot about the Japanese Nintendo DVD Catalog (http://jasoco.no-ip.com/gameitem.php?item=japdvdcat) I got.

I am fully prepared to lay down a hunk of change for some of this stuff.

I think this is a good idea. I won't buy any of the games probably, but the packaging is cool. Those appear to me to be the EXACT same packages (at least the front) as the original Famicom releases.

Jasoco

Would have been cool if the GBA came in a box that looked like the original NES box except with a GBA instead of a Famicom.

But the SMB thing is cool too.

Gonna get me an SP, Mario and Zelda. :D

Of course they wouldn't release these in the states. They would release an NES SP. Don't forget, '05 will mark 20yrs. for the NES. I'll bet The big N has something up there sleeve for that.

Although the NES-e cards weren't a big hit, the Zelda collection, SMB Advance games, and the addition of NES classics as unlockables, (Metroid, The NES games in Animal Crossing), were a hit.

I will be getting a set of these btw.

PlayAsia says it's a bundle, but what does it come with besides that stupid carrying case?

Lady Jaye
01-15-2004, 12:10 PM
It's a bundle because it will include SMB with it, thus explaining the SMB SP box.

Since I no longer have a GBA SP, I wanna replace mine. I'm not really considering the white-and-red famicom import, but rather the pale pink one. :D I think I'll wait till the mini Famicom carts are released and get Zelda with it (one more copy of the Legend of Zelda for me... I already have 3 copies of the NES cart, of various quality, plus the GCN disk. But no portable Zelda yet. And since I know this game pretty much by heart, no biggie if the text's in Japanese.

That's awesome! I want that Famicon-looking GBA SP. :-P

Too bad it doesn't match my GC though haha

I will probably get a BLACK GBA SP unless they come out with an INDIGO one, because that's what I went with for my GC and also my GBA.

I want the GBA SP released over here in the light grey, dark grey, red, and black colors of our NES toaster / original GB.
