I was just curious to know how long does it take to receive an ebay purchase. I know the guy I bought it from is in the U.S and he said that it went out by U.S mail Last monday (jan. 5th). I'ts Jan 14 (Wed) and Im starting to get a little worried. The the post office really take that damn long or should I worry that he didn't send it at all. I paid "paypal".
What do you all think?

oh, I bought a complete "EINHANDER" ps1 game.

It should have been there, but...the post office has been know to be slow. The guy could have sent it out later then he said. I'd send a friendly e-mail to him asking about it.

He might have sent by Media Mail, which could take up to two weeks or so.

I did, that's how I found out he sent it out last monday. I think I'll wait until the end of this week before I do anything.

Now is there anything I can do if I never get it? Ive already paid the guy and it shows in the bank statement. Is there some kind of ebay security to get my money back?
Also, what if the Post Office lost it???? Am I screwed?

If you used paypal, you can go through them and file a complaint. I am not sure how it works, but I am sure somebody on here could tell you more

You can do a paypal chargeback which forces him to prove he shipped it. If he can't prove it, Paypal will attempt to recover the money for you. However, you only have 30 days to request that. When did the paypal actually clear?

Paypal cleared Jan 2nd. So I still have some time. Thanks "CueWarrior", your info is much appreciated. I'll start to look into it just in case I don't receive anything by this friday. Thank you all.

One. Relax and breath. 8 working days is not the end of the world.

Two. Before you start immediately looking into charge backs email the seller and ask what method he used to ship: media mail, parcel post, or first class (priority). Media can take around two to three weeks usually at most, parcel takes around a week to two weeks, and priority is 3-5 days (but that is not garuanteed time frame).

Three. Ask the seller if they used any sort of tracking method on the package (delivery confirmation, etc.). You can track this online to see what date the package was accepted at the post office.

a week shouldn't get you worried. Some of my items took 2-3 weeks. MEdia mail can take a while.

Alright, im calm and I haven't done anything drastic. But tomorrow will be 10 buisness days (2 weeks). I never heard of media mail but I can't believe the post office takes that damn long. I work for Fedex and the longest a package arrives is 3 days TOPS. Fedex ground will take no more than 6 days. Im sure UPS is the same but they suck...... I have to say that.
Im waiting until monday afternoon then i'll send the guy another email. A friendly email.

oh, he used the post office service withought a tracking number. I usually offer to pay for shipping since it's cheap for me and I can get it in 1 day. But he said it was already included. o.k.

thanks guys/gals.

You work for fedex, yet you've never heard of your competitor's Media Mail service? :hmm: OK...

Anyway, 2 to 3 weeks like everyone said. After 3-4 weeks, I'd sound the sirens though.

That's why I never SEND anything Media Mail, and I won't have anyone MAIL me Media Mail. I've had that take three weeks sometimes! x_x

Media mail????? The funny thing is that I just asked a FedEx sales rep and a couple of other Fedex drivers and NO ONE has ever heard of Media mail. Now Im just curious. Are they a part of the U.S post office? Maybe a part of D.H.L or Airborn? Whatever they are it seems as though there disliked by most of you.

O.K....it's friday (2 weeks). But if the mail (or media mail) takes 3-4 weeks im going to continue and be patient.

Everyone is saying media mail , but it's also called book rate.
It's just a low priority service. If the truck is full it won't go out that day.
If the truck is empty it will.
So sometimes it's just as quick as 1st Class sometimes it's not.

And yes it's the USPS. They don't have seperate parts just different rate services. It's like sending something Airmail or Ground.

There's five shipping options with the US Post Service, if I recall correctly --

Media Mail (Book Rate)
1st Class
Priorty Mail
Overnight
AirMail (Overseas)

The average is two weeks. You should be saying it might even take up to three weeks. Also, about three people said this, so that post was a bit useless.

The only time I had something sent to me via Media Mail it took 34 days! If a seller says they will ship via Media Mail say "Hell No!! I will send you a couple extra bucks and send regular mail!"

I wonder why people have so many problems with Media. I have never had anything shipped to me that way, but I did ship two items to other people that way and they were Pennsylvania to Ohio and Penn. to South Carolina. The ohio package was sent the day of payment by media and the buyer had it in 2 days. the SC package was shipped day of payment and they got it 4 days later. both of these were just as quick if not quicker than priority. maybe the people i was sending them to just got lucky...i dunno.

Ok, I'm just to lazy to read everything over, but did you ever ask the guy how he sent? If he says not by Media mail, something's fishy, if he did send media mail, wait another couple days til Friday, then if you still don't have it by then, then there's probably something wrong.

How long has it been since you've sent payment via PayPal? You only have 30 days from the day you sent the money to file a claim to get your money back; they have ten days from the date you file the claim to prove that the item was sent AND delivered.

Any updates???? I live in Mexico so just 3 weeks wouldnt worry me.....i received a "global priority envelope" 2 days ago..and it was sent from california on dcember 17th!!!! It took an amazing 33 days to get here ... :eek 2:

Damn that wild but you did live In Mexico. The funny thing is that Mexico is the closest country (besides Canada) and it is the hardest country to send anything to. We constantly (here at Fedex) have problems with Mexican Customs. We have updates about 2 or 3 times a month about what is Prohibited and what is not. But it is there country and they can set whatever rules they want.

Oh I emailed the guy 2 days ago and I haven't received anything yet. It is now 3 weeks today....From the Paypal date. I will keep checking my email over the weekend and monday I will contact paypal to see what I can do.

Monday you should be filing with PayPal. Don't just email them and ask; you'll wait forever, and chances are pretty low that you'll hear anything back. You should file for a refund of your money for non-receipt of goods. The seller will then have ten business days to provide proof of delivery to PayPal. If not, then theoretically, you should get your money back. I'm not sure the success rate with this, but I've heard enough sellers complaining that they were ripped off by a buyer who got the goods and still filed with PayPal to get the money back, and they got it, just because the seller didn't get delivery confirmation on the package and couldn't prove it was delivered, even though it was.

PayPal is a wonderfull system and I've never had any problems with it.

That being said, it IS slanted in favor of the buyer. If you're in the position that you are in (waited three weeks, no contact or tracking number from seller) then by all means, file that claim!

I would definetely say to file. The nice thing to do though, if you do eventually get your money back and then the item comes would be to return the money, but that is up to you. Hope you at least get your money back.

Yeah I filed a couple of days ago. I sent another real nice email to the sender and he still hasn't replied. I asked if he used the post office or ups. Then maybe I can locate it myself by calling. I offered to help and the guy wont email. It's weird cause he's sold hundreds of products and he has a high rating (good rating). So it doesn't make sense.

By they way, I thank all of you for your comments and help. I really appreciate it.

I'll right, It's finally over. I get my Money back. It turns out he never even sent the game. Paypal sent me an email with the good news.
The guy still hasn't sent me an email.

Thanks again everyone.

If anyone ever needs help with opening a claim let me know. It's a little tricky but I would gladly help.

Congrats!

That's ONE reason I buy and sell most of my stuff on Amazon instead. I suggest you check them for the game. The few times a seller on them has'nt sent me anything it's easy to file a claim with Amazon and get the money returned to my credit card.
