I am pretty sure my version is the one with the one that was pulled form the shelves.

Does anyone know for sure which is the Rare Version??

Also anyone know if it was nudity or violence that caused such a problem with this game?

It was a bit of both, though there was no nudity (just girls in nighties -- the average rality show is more racy), and the violence was pretty laughable back then, even moreso now compared to stuff like Manhunt.

*edit*

After doing some research I think I've managed to confuse myself.

Several websites mention that the original did have frontal nudity.
It was pulled and replace by an edited version marked "Mature".

So as for which is which, I really don't know.

But this is the one marked Mature.

While this may be odd to some, Night Trap is one of my all time Top Ten favorite games.

I have owned it on EVERY system (except PC), and beat it many times. I have even completed it (more than once) with catching every intruder, and saving all of the guests.

I can say with ultimate confidence that there is absolutely NO difference between ANY of the versions released for the 3 home systems (Sega CD, 32X, and 3DO.)

The only difference is better graphics and sound.

If there is any "hidden nudity", it is well hidden, because I have yet to find it.

I believe that this is 100% folk lore surrounding a game that at it's release, was controversial for it's depiction of women in nighties.

You can believe what you like (of course), but it's simply not true.

Hmmm, WAS there a Night Trap for PC? I loved it too and I'd love to have it again. I know it's popular to bash FMV games, and the criticisms are accurate for the post part, but I think this was an example of an FMV game done right.

BTW, I had the launch version for Sega CD and it didn't contain ANY frontal nudity. Trust me, I was like 12 or 13 at the time, so I would've remembered it. :) Plus, every magazine would've said something. It's just a myth.
