That's right, I'm soon to be the proud father of my 29th video game system in the next week, once my Colecovision is delivered!!!
And by Christmas I will have an XBox, so I will them be up to the nice round number of 30 video game systems in my collection!!
Now, will all the members of Cinciclassic that were selling Colecovision games please reconvene...I get paid next week :)
My next missions: an Atari Lynx, a Vectrex, and working copies of Atari 5200 and Sega CD systems...my two deceased systems...
I might have to move out of my parents house if I keep this pace up!!!

wow, is that with or without portables?
i clock in at 13 systems if you count portables, 16 if you count system variations.

I'm not trying to turn this into a "Wow, look how big my collection is" post I'm just excited that I'm finally getting a Colecovision!!!
Have we done a best of Colecovision poll recently? I don't remember...
I also know that there are several homebrew Coleco products...info??
And since I just said I'm not trying to this into a "Wow, look how big my collection is" post , now is the point where I say that I have 1178 unique games, 1323 including duplicates... :P
And my console count goes up to 44 if you count my doubles...
I'm just shocked that you could have had 28 systems and the Colecovision wasn't one of them!

Congrats ScooterB! I'm not far behind (27ish, including hand helds and 8 bit Ataris (I have one Atari from each 'generation') so I definitely understand how exciting it is.

Thanks for the info DP!!

Would you believe that when I started collecting it was the #1 thing on my list to get?? But I kept balking at systems that would go for $50 plus (kind of a budget gamer here). I nearly bought one in Cincy for $45, came with 9 games, but I had just bought Pac-Land for my TG-16, the DP Guide, and the Video Game Bible, so I was already out $65, and I had been there for less than 7 minutes (I checked my watch)!! So I spent the rest of the day nickel and diming my way around...free play Black Widow helped out a lot.
Can't wait!! Next on my list of games to get for it is the Smurf game...I have always wanted to play that one...

I'm almost ashamed to post this, but I only have 6 systems  . I still haven't had too much interest in getting anything much earlier than the NES, because the NES was my first system...besides, for the most part, I wasn't born when the other systems were popular :x .

And how many people (offline) do you know who can boast 6 systems? :D

I'm in a similar situation of being "the kid with a lot of videogames" offline and being quite amateur here. As of now, I have (here at school in Boston) my NES, 64, PS2, Dreamcast , Jap Saturn. At home, I have a SuperNES, Master System (no connections or games, though, but hey, it was a buck) and an American Saturn.
On a second note, I'll be bringing the Jap Saturn (it's the grey one, works great and I have quite a few (not rare) J-Saturn games, as well as an American DC, to the NECG expo next weekend. I think for games, I'll bring Sega GT since I have 2 for some reason, and Fighting Vipers, Enemy Zero, a couple soccer games, Winning Post, VF2 and Daytona USA, as well as the memory card for the Jap Saturn. I'm not especially interested in classic gaming, but I am trying to get a few of the more common systems and games (for instance, a 2600 with Combat, Space Invaders, Boxing, Pitfall, etc.). If you're gonna be at NECG, and are interested in those systems games (I'll bring some cash, too, but I'm a poor college student), bring some stuff and I'll be wicked glad to trade. Moreso if you have boxed games, b/c I like them on the wall boxed if at all possible.
Peace,
Kev

Phear your ColecoVision's power switch!!! I collect 'em to Ebay, after I got my own. All of them tend to exhibit the feared switch failure. Symptoms include (when powered on) a hum, or garbled graphics, or solid colour screen with hum. The switches fail, and so far, are a bitch to repair. I've got two systems I'm trying to fix, and sadly, my personal mint system is beginning to exhibit the symptoms (mildly) too. I gotta find a solution. I've yet to successfully perform the method outlined in the ColecoVision FAQ. Getting the switches back together 'working' is a biyatch.
Good Luck! I love mine, as it was the Holy Grail of systems when I was a kid. Never had one then. Atari was neat, IntelliVision was cool, but the ColecoVision had arcade perfect Donkey Kong!!!

Coincidentally enough, I just got my Colecovision in the mail today (thanks Keir!) :) I had already collected 22 games for it, but never had a system to play em on.
Now that we're talking amount of systems, I'm going to have to count.
