I've wanted to do this for a while and getting the dremel as suggested by Omnedon made it real easy. Others have added the button on top but I felt the side worked best for me.

Oh man! :D

I was thinking of doing the same to mine, but on the top! That's a great idea! Is there lots of room there on the inside too?

Also, where did you get the button? Happs, or did you find a local vendor?

The only thing I don't like about my 5200 Trak Ball is the wimp ass fire button. That's great.

I need to make more time to work on my own stuff! I'm jealous! LOL

I originally thought of doing it on top but the button I used (a microswitch button from a Genesis/SNES controller I got with no cables) was looking like a very tight fit that way. Also, I feel like no matter where you put the button on topyour hands are just too close together. The other nice thing about the side mount is that the trak-ball visually still looks original from most angles. Someone on AA suggested putting the second button on the other side and convincing someone to port an atari 8-bit pinball game. That would be great!

P.S. Omnedon - if you would like one (or two) of the other six buttons from the controller I stole mine from it's/they're yours.

I did mine a week ago. I got buttons from CongoBongo (Thanks man!) abd did it. Mine looks just like his, except I did both buttons. The 'main' fire button closer to the top, and the secondary button below it.

Far more precise for control now. The people in the cities I'm protecting will be safer for longer now.... LOL
