Favourite Ridge Racer?

So, what's your favourite Ridge Racer? I'd have to go for Type-4. It was the biggest improvement the series has seen, and is quite a quality arcade racing experience, with plenty thrown in to add to the longevity. Excellent graphics - great music. The definitive RR experience.

Ridge Racer 64 comes a close second, as it's just jam packed with tracks and cars and features an excellent 4-player mode - but loses out for me in that it feels a little more cheaply done - and the lack of FMV sequences takes away some of the gloss of Type-4. Not to mention the car models look a little dodgy.

R4, no doubt. Funny thing is, I popped it in the PS2 and gave it a go last night. The graphics have taken a hit for certain, but it still plays very well in comparison to more modern titles.

It's proof that Namco is the leader when it comes to style. Everything in that game oozes style. Good tunes, nice graphics, and those silly-but-cool brake light trails.

Plus, it came with the 60-FPS version of the original Ridge Racer.

My second favorite racer on the PSOne, right behind Gran Turismo.
