What was your favorite Dragon Warrior game and why?

Time to bring up an old topic.

I'll take 3 anytime, I can't stand one, finished two and it was tedious, and three is so well balanced and has so much depth.

My favrite is actually the Dragon Quest 4 remix for PS1, but since it's not there (Nor is the dq3 remix for sfc,) I'll take the original DW4.

Dragon Warrior 4 is my fave with DW3 right behind it.

I don't care if it's not on the list. Dragon Warrior Monsters kicked ass. Easily my favorite DW game, followed by #3 for GBC.

Where are the Japanese-only ones? My fave is Dragon Quest 6.

I picked DW1. I know its simple and beyond rudimentary, but there is just something magical about that game for me.

DW1 was the first love, but DW4 is the one that does the most and best with the formula. (DW7 might win if I only considered the MOST.)

My favorite is Dragon Warrior 3 for the GBC. I loved creating my own party of adventurers, and the new additions to the game were great.

DW1 & DW7.

DW1 because of all the memories.

DW7 because it's a whole LOT of (classic style) RPG goodness.

I voted for DW4, cool characters and I enjoy the chapters aspect. Off the list I like DQ6 too.

I'm also going with DW4 due to the variety of the characters you control in each of the chapters. I also like how all of the chapters tie in together during the final chapter and you travel around with a caravan. DW3 is very, very close second; I always love going to the monster fighting arena in that game. Both are very epic games with quest sizes that are very impressive for an NES game.

I have played 1, 3, 4, and 5, and I believe 4 was the best.

DW 4 was just friggin AMAZING, especially for it's time and being on a NES system.

Out of all the injustices done to the amrican videogaming public, the lack of DW games far outweighs anything else :(

DQ6 but it hard to pick as the remixes for DQ3 and 4 are very good too.

I never spent enough time with the Dragon Qwest game, but I'd have to think #4 was the biggest one, if only because of the impact it had in Japan. I think there's still a law on their books that says no DQ game can be released on a school day. Crazy.

Double Dragon III all the way. It's been a long time since I played it, but I remember loving how the story tied in with events that happened before the first one. I thought it made both games seem so much more epic.

I also have a soft spot for I, because it was my first RPG and the first NES game I owned besides Super Mario Bros. I got it with my NES for Christmas, actually. I remember being very disappointed because I wanted an action game, but beating it anyway and grudgingly coming to like it. I picked it up a little later for a second playthrough and an RPG addiction was born.

I might rank Dragon Warrior IV higher if I get to play all of it. I didn't get to finish it as a kid and I can't find a reasonably priced copy today.
