Title explains all. I've got a Genesis model 1 that needs a power supply and A/V cable hookups. Anyone know of any good internet sites to purchase these?

Ebay, ebay, ebay. Failing that, http://www.sega-parts.com/

The only thing I can seem to find is mono AV hookups for the Genesis model 1. Is it possible to find stereo AV cables for this model? Cuz the stereo cables I keep finding are for model 2 only.

Do you have any ex-Funcolands in your area? That are now GameStops? They carry a stock of older console accosaries. I found all the stuff my Genesis needed over there.

Yes I do, actually... several. So I s'pose I could try there. I'd like to get it working cuz my model 2 is broken I think. The sound seems to be much more distorted than it should be. The box it came in looked really weathered... like it had been stored in a garage for 10 years... and could very well be since I got it off ebay.

Are Genesis consoles known to fall apart when not in use? Or if stored in the wrong areas? Cuz this one's doin all kindsa weird things... like starting up and then quitting suddenly, there's a short in the power cord in the back as well (if you move the console a certain way, it loses power), practically none of my games want to start on the first try, and the system absolutely will not recognize Virtua Racing or Sonic 2 and Knuckles. It's weird... I can play Sonic 2 and Sonic & Knuckles by themselves, but if I try to lock the two together, it doesn't work... absolutely nothing. Have I got a screwy model 2?

Nope, the connector only has mono audio. Gotta use the headphone jack for stereo audio.

Hey, I can probably snag you a good model 2, as we've got them at my Gamestop. Prolly better than looking for the parts you need, and less of a hassle.

Thanks for the info guys.

Oobgarm: Thanks, but I'm not really interested in the model 2. I only use it for now because I have no hookups for my model 1. If, however, after I get these hookups and I find that my model 1 still doesn't work, I'd probably be interested in any model 1's you might find. I always liked that one the best... simply because I think it looks the coolest. 8-)

if you can get a power supply for a sega cd model 2 you can use it on your model 1 genesis. you can go the RF route for the a/v and use a spare rf chord from a nes or snes if you really need to.
