The Metal Gear Solid 2 PREVIEW disk was of course released almost a year before the actual MGS2 game came out for PS2.

MGS 2 was then delayed due to removing some content for 9.11 purposes (like a few other games). I am really interested in finding out 2 things.

1. Does the preview disk have the WTC in the backround during the outside harbor scenes? They are supposed to be in NYC harbor.

2. Does anyone know anything at all about what was in fact removed from the game due to 9.11?

MGS 2 is easily in my top 10 games ever, and I always wanna learn more about it.

Have you picked up Document of MGS2? It's a great resource that provides a bit of insight into what was pulled.

I think it's only like $9.99 or so at the local EB. I believe Meijer has it as well.

From Gamespot:

Also available in this section of Document are nine areas that were ultimately not used in Metal Gear Solid 2, including early models of Big Shell and the aft deck of the tanker, as well as the overhead view of downtown Manhattan after Arsenal Gear's crash landing. That scene was removed shortly after the event of September 11, 2001, because it clearly depicts the World Trade Center overlooking a destroyed metropolitan area--Konami felt that keeping this scene in Metal Gear Solid 2 would be inappropriate.

They did'nt delay the release of the game, thank God, but they did remove several things, such as the scene of New York City. There was TALK of delaying it, but luckily cooler heads prevailed.

At one time, GameSpot had a article up, in their History of Video Games, that summed up all the games that were affected by September 11th.
