So, once again it is time for a new system and I am torn. At the local game store they have a saturn and a master system. both are $25.

Which should I get?

At that price: Master System.

You have GOT to be kidding. Master System over Saturn? Blasphemy!

Then again, if you prefer NES over PSX, you might be happier with the Master System. Just depends on your favorite "time frame" of gaming.

depends on what they come with.

But I'll still put in my vote for sega's first console in the US.

It's Saturn all the way for me, baby!
I didn't like the Master System myself. You'd be better off getting a Game Gear and a Master Gear adapter, which would allow you to play Master System titles on the go. There are a *few* games exclusive to the system that you shouldn't miss, although not many.

Buy the Saturn and get some fun games off of eBay...then let me borrow them. Than, go buy a Dreamcast and have loads of fun with its games, then burn a bunch of emulators and roms to use with it, including sms...it works great! Have fun!

I would buy the saturn for sure! Then get a new copy of nights (with 3d controller) for around 10 US on ebay

I'm usually an "all or nothing" kinda guy, so I too say get both. $50 for two consoles... that works for me.

You will run across a lot less SMS systems then Saturns.. I run across someone pushing a Saturn every 1/4 year.. never seen a SMS system in the wild that wasn't busted.

What, as if you can't find a Saturn for that price or less? I've never seen a Master System for sale. If I had to make a choice, I'd go with the Master System.

I'm going to say Master too. Very few around in good shape an really and underated game system. Although I'd beg borrow and steal to try to get both.

Get both if you can, but if you can only get one, I suggest you pick up the Master System because they just aren't that common. When you want to get a Saturn, there will be plenty around.

I love my Saturns, but to unlock the fuil fun-factor, you need to start importing....which can be costly.

I wouldn't do that, because most games (especially RPGs) are really hard to see on the GG screen. I'd suggest getting a real SMS, or at least a Power Base Converter for the Genesis.

I'd go with the Saturn. I've never had much affection for the 8-bit era, where as the Saturn is smack bang in the middle of my favourite time period for games (1990's).

Plus, speaking from an Australian perspective, Saturns are a LOT harder to find than the relatively common Master System. Sega Master System II's are as common as muck. The first SMS is a fair bit harder to come across - but still easier to find than a Saturn.

Dont bother buying the SMS,people here have an unhealthy obsession with it

Buy a Saturn and a crappy game or two and then play it for one night then put it in the closet and then sell it on ebay for 50

I'd get both because they are cheap and have good games on them.

I'd say the saturn, because its a bigger version of the 32X. The few games I've played n on one, I loved. Panzer Dragoon Saga, Knights into dreams, I believe the original Gex game was on saturn.

Whatever happend to Gex...?
