This afternoon, I hit EB looking for Genesis stuff (they're doing a buy one, get one free sale on all of their Genesis, SNES, and NES titles.) I was in a bit of a rush, so I scooped up 5 Genesis games that I needed and headed off to the register. The kind employee (note: I have *never* had a problem with EB employees) suggested that I take full advantage of the sale, and just go grab another game to even out the buy three and get three free that I was building up to. So fine, I decide a quick peek at the SNES and NES stuff would be ok. After a few moments, I turned this Kiwi Kraze up... and it was "free"...

This would be a first for me, so yay! Feel free to burst my bubble if you know better, though ;)

WOW! Nice find man...I'd have to say that rocks, odd that an unlicensed prototype would be in a licensed style cartridge. How much was it marked?

The good folks at EB wanted $7.99 for this, marked as "PO - Kiwi Kraze N8" (Pre-Owned Nintendo 8-Bit, of course.) I would've paid that, but since it was "free", I like to think that it was indeed free ;)
@ Cmosfm - Kiwi Kraze isn't unlicensed, it's a Taito game, so that explains the style of casing.
Looks like I'll be checking out the NES section at EB more often...

You're right, I was thinking of Krazy Kreatures...always mix those 2 games up. My fault.

Nice find! I've also had good luck with kind workers at EB.
Stupid question -- how can you tell this is a proto type board?

Because the PCB fills most of the case. Production NES PCBs usually fill the bottom third at most.

Lucky! Is this the first time in history this has happened?
Prototypes fascinate me; imagine all of the history in that single cart, how it was perhaps once in the hands of the designers of the game. Really cool.

Nah, this happens a couple times a year that i know of, probably more. Usually you dont find them in EB or GS though.

Nice find! The only place I found my two NES prototypes were at a Swap-O-rama....Spent $6 for the two of them, sold 'em for $250. I was happy ^^
Until I found out the Indiana Jones CHronicles one was different from the release version
But I was broke and unemployed at the time..ah well. ^_^
Again, awesome find!

Awesome find. Do you have some way of telling if it's different from the released version?

Nice. My EB would never have anything like that seeing as how they threw out all their NES games about a month ago. :o

Awesome find. I wish I could find something good like that at EB (or anywhere for that matter.) I don't think I was ever really excited over something I found in the wild before. Maybe someday. Congrats again.
