Well, since I caanot afford a modded Xbox or PS2, and I have a few emulators that are compatible with the original PSX that I have never tried, I was just wondering if anyone had an old modded PSX that I can play around with. Perhaps to sell for cheap or to trade for something. If so, PM me.

Which Emulators you talking about? And how can I get it?

Well, there is a NES emulator, as well as an SMS emulator. I have not yet tried them, although I hear they don't run all that great. I still would like to give them a go nonetheless for emulation sake. Here is a link to the NES emulator:

I guess you have to burn the emulator to a disk huh? Also do you use nes roms like you use in nestical? As you can see, I dont know too much about playing emu's on consoles.

Can't you just use the Gameshark Swap to play them.

I have a disc if you need it.

It's the Gameshark disc that actually stops the cd motor from spinning and allows you to swap the back-up or emulator disc.

That was always the easiest way for me.

I'm new to PSX emulation entirely. Do you mean to say that if I go buy a new PSX (PSOne) I can use this gameshark disc to boot up a burned emulator cd? If so, that would be excellent!

Also, yep, I would need that disc if thats the case as well. Thanks!

I wouldn't order from these guys because I've never heard of them but here's the type of boot disc I have. Much easier than modding any console. Works just like the gameshark disc described above on imports and emulator discs.

Yea. You just use any PS1 or PSone.

You have to put something in the door switch area so that the PS1 thinks the door is closed. (I use a toothpick some people use a spring).
Then you put in the gameshark. Get to the spot where you can select " Start game without codes" Switch the Gameshark disc for the Emulator or Back-up disc and press the X button.

That's it. The simplest thing in the world. :D

And if you need the disc , PM me your address and I'll send it to you.

There is another way around this problem. Just find a PS1 with parallel port, for there are GameShark like devices that allow you to play things like imbNES I know I own one.

Thanks for the offer. I have all of the DC emulators, and some compilations and divx's I made myself to boot :) I just never really messed with the psx emulation wise, and since I don't have one anyway I figured I'd try to get one modded in one shot. I have a cd coming to do this so now all I have to do is go buy one.

go friggin figure!!!)($*#_(

haha, I've had a modded ps1(orig. model) sitting around here for sale forever. Anyways, its in the pictures section of my website if you're ever interested. It doesn't have any of the hookups but it's tested and works great. Also, I do have a 3rd party controller I could throw in with it and it runs IMBnes just like intended. Anyways....it's there.

Day late and a dollar short.......

To follow up on my emulation experience on the PSX:

I finally got ahold of a PSX and the boot disc I needed to do this (thanks jonjandran!) and I had the opportunity to test the IMBNes emulator today. Amazing! I was really surprised to find that the NES is emulated near PERFECTLY on the Playstation. I made the disc awhile back and tested it with two emulators, but the sound was way off and the games were somewhat choppy. I figured it would be about the same on a real Playstation, but boy was I wrong! I tested a few dozen games today, and the emulation is on spot. It will even save for games that supported it as long as you have a memory card. Great stuff. I loved NesterDC on the Dreamcast, but I really think that this emulator is a bit better IMHO.

I will second that motion. IMBNES is right on the money IMHO. NesterDC was great, don't get me wrong. But, the playstation just does it so much better for many reasons. I love the dreamcast controller, but when you sit down to play some NES....it just feels odd having the worlds largest controller in your hand and the playstation has got it done quite well with their controller. Plus, NesterDC......atleast the version I had, did have some lag. I think I read that it ran at about 98.n% which isn't good enough when there is better :-P

Well, when I last used NesterDC it used some sort of anti-alias feature to fullscreen stretch the NES game image. IMBNes does not do this....it just looks exactly how a real NES looks onscreen. It just looks really really good!

FYI, the SMS emulator is antique, and HORRID! The emulation's slow, and the sound is PAINFULL!

I know LOL

Luckily I mounted an image and tested it with an emulator before creating a cd.
