Rare NES and Genesis games

Enough of the rarity lists for now, lets hear your personal opinion on what games are rare for the NES and Genesis. And dont list the same game to many times.

I know on the rarity list Awesome Possum is only an R4 but i cant find it damn it and i want it. But the "rare" sega games i have are Alex kidd and the enchancted castle, zany golf, math blaster episode 1 and zero the kamizake squirell

I'd recommend keeping your DP Guide and online lists handy when you go out next time in that case. If you can't just drive back or take a bus then it's only wise to be prepared next time you have an opportunity.

From my standpoint, E.V.O. for the SNES is rarer than what the guide gives it. Harvest Moon is, too. But, both those games are considered "rare, but not as rare as it seems"... So, maybe I'm not looking in the right places. I should probably have more of a "grass roots" approach.

Edit: Oops! This is NES/Genesis, not SNES/Genesis... My bad.

Aero the Acrobat 2 for Genny. That game is really hard to find it seems like.

Also for NES im going to say Hatris. That game seems to be harder to find everyday.

You know, the guide says Hatris is rare, and so does most other rarity lists but I've never had any trouble finding it. I own a copy, and I know I've seen at least 5 more out there at the local GameXchanges. Maybe I'm just lucky?

For the NES...Little Samson, Panic Restaurant, and Moon Ranger. In more than 10 years of hunting, never saw one copy of any of them at any price...funco, rummage sales, thrifts, trade meets...nada. Finally broke down and got all of them off ebay last year. Usually this would mean seeing at least one in the wild the day after clicking the Paypal button, but still no contact in the wild to this day...in my book they're all very hard to come by.

I can never seem to find Zany Golf,Roadblasters, and Battle Master anywhere. They are very rarely on ebay(few cart only but never complete) Is Operation Europe really all that rare? I see it all the time in the wild. I stopped picking it up because no one would trade for it. I passed up a cart only copy the other day for $5CAN.

In general, I feel I've been very lucky at finding uncommon stuff in the wild(like finding all 3 tengen pac-mans at once at GS). There are a few NES's that I'm convinced I will never find in the wild

International Super Star Soccer and International Superstar Soccer Deluxe are definitely underrated on the Digitpress snes list. Unless you live in Argentina, of course...

The list says Alexx kidd for genesis is a rare game, but i have seen several copies on ebay, and some of them ended wihout any bids......ergo, i wouldnt really say its a rare genny release!!!

As far as the NES there are games which i consider rare, and games whose boxes and manuals i consider even more rare. for example...Ice climber is a rather common cart, but try finding it with the box ...not too easy at all. Anyway heres my list.....

And no, still no luck. I have seen one loose cart in the wild, but I passed on it, being as it's loose. It will be on my final 10 for sure. Danny, in a similar situation, only has one or none! It is indeed, very rare.

And can I say the rarest sports game on the Genesis, minus Madden Champ Edition, is Minnesota Fats Pool. I've never seen that, ever, on eBay or the wild.

It seems all Tengen Genesis releases are in lower numbers than others, in some cases. However, Ms. Pacman may one of the most dirt common titles on the system. I see that game EVERYWHERE.

Sleeper rare games (note, not rarest, just rare) for Genesis, in my opinion, are Zany Golf, the three Mentrix games, Cal 50, Wardner, and Championship Bowling, Zero, Aero 2, Bimini Run, Ishido, Chavez II, Belle's Quest, Crossfire to name a few. I'd make a case for Battle Master if I looked into it more, and if I remembered where I got it! The Koei games aren't terribly rare, more of terribly uncommon. (Niche market)

I also feel that all early cardboard box games - Budokan, Zany Golf, Populous, etc for EA - Onslaught, Turrican, Universal Soldier from Accolade/Ballistic - are at least uncommon. I also feel the same about most Renovation title.

Did I mention that most Sega Club titles suck to get? Mainly due to cost tho.

Alex Kidd, Wonderboy, ESWAT, Truxton, Moonwalker, etc, hell even somewhat Herzog Zwei are not that rare. Just desired more than anything.

For the SNES, Harvest Moon and E.V.O. are popular games (and for good reason). I stand by the DP assertion that they are not as rare as they seem. I know I'll never sell my copy of Harvest Moon, and I definitely want a copy of EVO.

We need to make a determination on NTSC games like ISS and Super Copa. Did they fall on the US SNES list?

Now to the NES:

RACE AMERICA. I've never seen it in the wild, ever.

Working backwards, Atlus games are definitely uncommon finds, and borderline rare. You can find them though.

Less popular black box titles, specifically Clu Clu Land and Wrecking Crew, have somewhat tough boxes and manuals. Even though I've had both games since I first got my NES, I just recently got the boxes and manuals again, (the originals.. got trashed by my own hand. Argh. The new ones from Mr. Sommerwreck! I plan to baby them like he did) and I haven't seen them in the wild. Dont know about eBay, never checked.

Add Sqoon and Pro Sport Hockey to the rare box/manual combo.

Rally Bike (sort of), Swamp Thing, and Alfred C are ones that are rare, and haven't been mentioned.

I'd probably more agree with spoon's list if games like the Jetsons were on one list, and SE on the other ;) The Tecmo Soccer, Motor Truck and Motor City are debatable rare, but everything else is low rare or above. Power Blade 2 is more notable for its box and manual being rarer than the cart itself.

I've seen several Arkanoid controllers at game stores, but only one or two carts. Odd.

Aladdin carts are only rare in the sense of finding them in the wild. Everyone here should know about the guy from NYC with the remaining pallets.

Panic and Samson are both late Taito releases like Flintstones 2. I guess they just saw poor dispersion? Still hard to find, and priced high in stores, which doesn't help eBay prices. If Super Cars was $19.99 at Funcostop, I'm sure it eBay price would reflect that.

Hatris is hard to find. I've seen maybe one in my hunts.

Also keep in mind my surveying area is New Jersey and the Atlanta area. Region differences will make everything different for everyone.

Besides the obvious rares for nes it was the hardest for me to find-
Color a dinosaur complete
Mission cobra complete

If your counting E-Bay always the rare ones that don't bring much money will usually be the hardest to find imo.
