I've got an old used SMS (model one i think, big, rectagle like machine) form a flea market, and after years of use the power button has been acting up. Basically when I press the power on button I have to jiggle it to get the machine to stay on, and when it finally does connect and stay on, it usually shuts off after a minute or two. Anyone know how to fix this problem? Should I even bother fixing it, or just get another system?

Whether or not to fix, is up to you really. I would fix it, but that's me, and I have an irrational love for the SMS. Especially if it's in nice cosmetic condition. You may be able to find one that is busted in some way, or trashed and pull a switch swap. You may even be able to snag a new switch from an electronics place, but I prefer to operate like an auto wrecker that way.

My guess is the switch that's in it is likely done for. I suppose it's a possibility it's posts solders have come loose, and a simple touch of an iron could restore them.... I've done that with SMS cart slots.
