There is no website. Search Google news for stories about it. The best we got is that it will not be a sucessor to the GBA or Gamecube, and that it may play older games. It will not be the IQUE either.

I think it is an amazing idea....think of the possibilities. You can have a console that COULD POSSIBLY play all of your nintendo carts...every format! The real question is...could it be profitable to make a retro console? As much as I think the idea is cool, The Atari and INTV controller idea could of been alot better, and I hope Nintendo sets their standards high! I will support this because the idea itself(espically if it accepts carts) is a sweet concept. If there is one hope for Nintendo...it is the power of their previous libraries of long dead consoles!

Are you saying that the 10-in-1 style games would be a better idea than an all-in-one machine? If so, then I disagree... poorly re-written games aren't enough to get me to buy one of those things. A device that will accept all my NES, SNES and N64 cartridges however, would definitely save me some shelf space (and save me from my horrible, blinking NES).

From what I've heard they are making an announcement in April about new hardware, not to be confused with a new console. Its an accessory or add on of some type, and everyone (mag's, websites, the nintendo rep at my work :P) been giving it ALOT of hype....not sure what it is....guess we will have to wait untill April huh? I also heard they havn't came out and directly said a new console will be appearing, but I guess they keep hinting at it...word has it nintendo is going retro and WILL be compatable with NES and SNES carts...but not sure about N64...but then again..maybe this could be the new hardware coming out..hmm...o.o

New hardware 'eh?

I'm banking on a release of the SNES CD drive - or possibly a new line of Hanafuda playing cards.

I bet it will be a add on to the gamecube that allows you to play nes, snes and n64 games. That would be incredible.

I was misunderstood into thinking that I thought that the Atari 10 in 1 is better than what Nintendo is possibly brewing....as for it possibly being an add on of the GC, I hope two things they consider...1) The add on has a port to use old controllers as well 2) No irritating boot up disk like the GC GB player has. That is going to be a nightmare finding 10 years from now! Dont get me wrong, I will support it either way, the wait is gonna kill me!

Oh jesus, if it is some kind of backwards compatible device for the GC... grab those carts you've been eyeing now kiddos, prices are going to soar.

Gamepro magazine said:

As 2003 wound down, Nintendo started putting its 2004 plans into place, breaking some good news with some bad. While there's a new Nintendo machine on the horizon, it may not be what you think - and thre are more pressing matters at hand.
First, the bad news: The company announced a $26.7 million loss for the first half of its fiscal year. Citing slow GameCube sales and unfavorable international currency rates, the loss was the first the company has posted in over 40 years. GameCube sales were slow - about 890,000 units sold in the six-month period - but the Game Boy Advance continues to perform well with over 8 million machines sold worldwide. The second half of Nintendo's fiscal year includes the key holiday shopping season, and the company is sticking with its prediction to sell 6 million GameCubes before March.
However, by May, the buzz will be surrounding Nintendo's newest piece of hardware, which will make its debut at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles. What's not being discussed yet is the nature of the hardware - there's no word on whether it will be a handheld system, a TV- based console machine, or something else entirely. Nintendo currently has technology development deals with ATI, NEC, Sharp, and IBM, any or all of which could bear fruit for the new machine.
With the price of the GameCube slashed to $99 this past fall, many people speculate that the mystery machine will be its successor and the original GameCube will disappear, but that's merely conjecture. Futhermore, the console has resumed production (it had ceased in January 2003 but was restarted in November 2003) to meet expected holiday demand. Then again, the GBA is the company's true moneymaker at the moment, so this new machine may be an extension of that line. Nintendo, for its part, is keeping mum on its true plans and any other details about the new machine. When we have concrete information, you'll see it here.

Anyone thought about this? Production of the Panasonic Q stopped, Nintendo reduces cost, and what is the gamecube lacking?

DVD playback

Maybe a bigger gamecube (would it be a cube anymore? gamerectangle) with DVD, CD playback is in the works? Just a thought.

The company has been around for over 100 years... they are brewing up something big...As big as even the companies ego is...they too know that if they dont try something else, their future of the market is limited. As much as I feel the Gameboy is the essential part of their revenue, I feel that they do need a home console presence to survive...what will they do when all of the favorite ports of famous SNES games have been done on the Gameboy SP??? Dont get me wrong, I enjoy the system to death, but the writing is on the wall and the future may past them up if they dont evolve with time. What Nintendo needs to do is to draw upon their rich contribution to gaming...and not screw it up like Sega did!

Nintendo's releasing <s>Sega</s> Nintendo 32x. It improves the graphics of your SNES games when put in your N64. See, it's not for the GBA or GCN :D

EDIT: Strikeout code not working? Last time I checked HTML was on...

I hope you don't get your hopes up too much... I remember seeing an article somewhere where one of Nintendo's presidents actually said he doesn't expect the device to be that impressive to most people... Not sure what that's supposed to mean.

BAMM! Dual Screens. Go Nintendo, sounds cool, also sounds like a potential Virtual Boy2, but if it plays all my normal GB/GBC/GBA games, I'll buy one.

The success of this machine will strongly depend on how they debut it in May. I will reserve judgement until then. Right now it interests me about as much as the PSP (which is quite low).

But you're a gamer. I'm a gamer. We can reserve judgement. My initial reaction is in Zach's thread.

The public is going to take one glance at this and toss it aside as some retarded gimmick, UNLESS they get some kind of absolutely awesome app on it asap. This is not what the company needs to capture the college student market it is so desperately missing.
