Hi there, check out the Introduce Yourself! thread (it's sticky at the top of the VG forum).
As for "holy grails of collecting" ...there's far too many to list, really.
What is it you're looking for? There's the CD-i dev units, or the M2 3DO prototypes (not to mention M2 arcade hardware). There's stuff that' expensive, like Metal Slug AES (I just about consider all the AES Metal Slug games to be Holy Grails, heh) or the PC-Engine LT, and then there's stuff that's just darn hard to find, like the Sony F900 + F900i MSX 2 video editing setup, or a Sharp X1 turbo. Star Fox Competition Weekend? Eh. What categor are we talking about, exactly?
@ CMOS FM
Yeah, nobody ever heard of them...lol

Hey TonK,
Did you change your tune on collectors or something? I know you use to really bitch about game collectors over at NG.com when you were a member there. This site is filled with collectors as I'm sure you've noticed.
Anyway, there's alot of holy grails man, too many to list. Nintendo World Championships(NES) is certainly one of them.

Not really...
I still am embarassed by the members over there that have "rattle" tests for the carts.

I didn't necessarily mean NG.com members, I pretty much thought that you had a certain kind of scorn for game collectors period. I only mentioned NG.com because thats where I read all your anti-collector rants. I'm not trying to start shit here, but you are kind of in the lions den of game collectors. If you aren't vehement about it anymore thats great, we all make changes, and welcome to the boards. I'd like to see pics of your 'collection' (evil word LOL )

My personal holy grail quest is to somehow randomly stumble across a box of Campus Challenge NES carts before anyone else. Then I'll distribute them at a rate of one per year at CGE via a tournament which incorporates the actual carts. Each annual winner will recieve a Campus Challenge cart (There will be admission fees of course; I'm not stupid, just incredibly optimistic).

How rare is Metal Slug 1 AES anyways? I know it's super expensive, but Neo Geo stuff is always kind of "out there" when it comes to pricing, so it's hard to judge how rare this stuff is.
I was basically under the impression of "finding the money is harder than finding the game", so as long as you were willing to spend the money, finding one for sale wasn't a problem... unlike some of the other super expensive games, where finding it is most of the battle.

'Les Schtroumpfs Autour de Monde' [Smurfs Travel the World] is probably the Holy Grail of Master System collecting.
Have any ever turned up apart from the stash that was found by the Pelikonepeijoonit guys a few years back?

My gaming collection holy grail. It would have to be Mortal Kombat 3 for Sega Master System. The reason is because it was never meant to come out for SMS, but was supposed to be a Game Gear game. The SMS version is the GG version. All you need is the SMS converter for GG, and that game, and you have MK3 for GG. The thing is that this games sells on eBay for a max of about 20 bucks, but I always seem to miss that auction :)

In a word ...
... Darxide.
Been looking for it for years. Sadly don't have the £250 i would need to drop on ebay for it. Insanely jealous of the guy who found one for 80p in a market in Kent :eek 2:
I've even heard that it's not that great, but I still want it. There's a certain historical appeal to it, because it was made by David Braben, creator of the game that probably more than anything started me on the gaming lark ... Elite.
