It looks like I won't "revenge Joe's brother" after all, because this game is a steaming pile of bantha poodu. I have fond memories of Twin Eagle in the arcade (Putt Putt Golf 'n' Games, Beavercreek, OH) back in the day, but this cart utterly fails to deliver the goods. $1.99 down the tubes.
Incidentally, is there a GOOD version of Twin Eagle out there somewhere for home consumption?
On Edit: Whoops, should have put this in the "Worst shmups" thread. Oh, well. Feel free to move it, Captain.

Hmm...actually I can move it to another forum, but I don't think I can move it to another thread. Ahh well. No biggie.

No and not really. 8)
The REAL Twin Eagle was reviewed some time ago right HERE (http://www.digitpress.com/reviews/twineagl.htm) and stands as one of the great arcade shooters IMO.

For the true NES afficionado: did you know there is more than one NES game with the title Twin Eagle? Here's the Sachen version (http://www.theredeye.net/20010119/index.html), which is at least 5x worse.

So I read the review, and notice the endnote:
NOTE: A version of this fun coin-op shooter was produced for the NES, but it retains nothing that made the upright enjoyable. Stay away from it unless you're overly curious or tired of the countless good shooters available for the N-8.
I can not agree more with this statement. The rest of the review pretty much captured my sentiment, too. I thought the arcade version was AWESOME when I played it back in the day. Seeing the violence done to the game in the NES version was truly heartbreaking.
Is there a GOOD port of Twin Eagle available for a home system? Or is this one that just slipped through the cracks after a single crap port (like, as far as I can tell, Taito's Front Line)?
