$1.00 each? Where do you live?
I''ve got a list of NES games that I'll buy from you at $1 each.

Several Pawn Shops around here have $1 dirt common Nes games. And my Goodwill sells them after a day or two for $1.
But like I said , dirt common, SMB , etc.....

Not bad of a deal, buy the lot and sell the games you already have.

Right now it's averaging about 1.22 a cart, and that's not even considering shipping and the fact the auction has 5 days to go.
What a clever way to sell sucky commons though.. lump them into a big pile that looks appealing on the outside.
Sure, resell them.. people aren't exactly banging down doors for Sesame Street and Othello.

True dat. Looking at the auction again, I agree.

Oh, Kejoriv, just to be sure, I wasn't being smarmy at you, but the seller. In the auction he just goes on about it like it were some steal of the century.
Someone would be listing singles on ebay for eternity. I just couldn't see some sap at the flea market taking that many carts, or even a third of that, to his table on the weekend either. There's this woman I know who has at least a hundred NES carts every week but she wants 5 bucks a piece for them, no one ever touches em. That is the kind of markup a reseller would have to apply to make this worth their while.

Our local goodwill sells most of ;the games for a dolalr each. Even if they are boxed or not. My friend got barts nightmare for 1 dollar with all the papers and box and dust cover. I bought a nees with tetris an tmnt for 5 bucks there. They rarely have gaems though and I go everyday afterschool.

ya, when I scaled my collection down....I sold 742 carts as well :hmm:
This guy truely has to be one of those business men. He absolutely hates Nintendo and exploits the collectors. Now that NES is coming down in price, he is getting out......what it seems to me anyways...

Are NES games actually dropping in value?

it seems to me that their ebay prices are dropping just a little bit.

Yes, more ebay than anything. But why couldn't I sell my 200 games for $3 each here on the forum? It resulted in 3 auctions of 30 games each. They sold for approximately $40 each. When I started collecting for nintendo......any game was worth $2.

Maybe so, but that guy also sells modified A/V Top Loaders... and from my understanding has a pretty good game collection, also. NESploitation? I doubt it.
Side note, I think I just made a new word.

i dunno why your games only sold for $40 for 30 of 'em, but you definitely could've gotten more on ebay no matter what games they were. all nes games (with the exception of the major major commons) still are worth at least $2 each IMO as long as the condition is good.

the reason I said he exploits NES is because he sells modified toploaders. Most people that I've talked to that have bought these were less than impressed.
Nesman85, did some research and dug these up. Might want to visit here soon because they may become inavailable shortly.

I forget what I said about how much they sold for, but actual prices were $40, $40, and $50. I think I might have said $30-40 for each. Anyways, I still felt like I gave them away. some sealed game auctions ended with those as well. Didn't get dirt for those either. I think I sold 10 sealed games for $40 or something around that. And I tried to boost them by selling Friday the 13th in one of the lots, which usually sees anywhere from $40-$70 but more towards the low end lately....alone. But that's about all I saw out of that game plus 9 others.... :hmm:

If you do a completed items search on Ebay for Nes Games Lots, you will see that most lots sell for less than $2 a cart on average.
Usually around $1.66 a cart average.
It's either a good time to buy or a horrible time to sell , depending on how you look at it. LOL

It is January, and now is not the best time to be selling on ebay. Now through March ebay is usually overloaded with videogames (more sellers and less people buying, or people buying as much). I have seen this pattern over the last couple years. The rarest of items will still command a premium, but it does seem that some collectors have cashed out in the past year such as dl_collecibles, remember he parted his entire NES collection out for nearly 19K, which will drive down demand as well. I'd just chalk it up to the time of the year though, when it gets to summer and into fall, they'll start going back up again.

I have noticed a difference in ebay from the months January and Feb. and a little into March. Last year I sold approx. 100 sealed NES games and they commanded good figures until partway into March. Then everything just died. And, I will admit.....sealed and loose/complete NES games command to an entirely different force....

I was always under the impression that games sold better in the winter months when people for the most part locked themselves in their warm homes and played games to avoid the cold outside. When summer comes more people go outside and spend less time playing videogames. At least that's the way I look at it.

Prime time for selling games normally is September through December (holidays coming up), but there is normally a letdown from January through March. It seems to me that more people get rid of their old stuff after the holidays (more supply of games and less demand). Summer is also a good buying time, but if you have rare items, they'll command high prices no matter the time of year. That is what I have seen in the past. I'm not saying I'm 100 percent correct, but this is what I have observed on ebay though. :)

Danny,
I agree with you 100% in regards to the timing..
I'm sorry to see dlcollectables go .. but I'm sure years down the road, he might regret doing so, and might go back into the hobby.
After all, we're not all here to make money.. if I was here to make money, I'd invest rather than buy these games. :)

Yeah, but if you hold on to your collection long enough, you might have a very good investment on your hands. :D I would be quicker to cash out on my stuff IF I had a ton of money invested in my games, but I really don't, so don't look for me to cash out my collection any time soon! 8-) (I may be making genesis collectors happy though in the not so distant future when I sell off all my duplicates, though)

well I know one thing. And that's the fact that both answers for the "when to sell" question would be right. More so when talking about ebay. You could run two auctions for the same item on ebay at any given time and you will never come up with the same amount. I went researching some dvd's on ebay that I'm about to sell and saw that most sold for $60-$70 and low and behold.....there are 3 auctions that broke the $100 mark, and i think completed search only covers the last month or maybe even less. So, it's more than a toss up with epay. Also, DV, how many Genesis games are there? I was thinking about diving face first into a ton of Sega adventures.....but I might want to start with DC as I'm pretty sure it has a smaller list....I was thinking Genny was pretty high on the totals list. Anyways.....other people can answer that as well....just thought I'd ask the man that made the question come to mind :)

Check the rarity lists here for the exact numbers:
http://www.digitpress.com/lists.htm
Without looking, I believe genesis is around 700 games and DC is around 250, but check the lists and it will give you an exact count. :)

it probably sounded like i was calling you a liar in my other post, but i thought you meant that you auctioned them off here on the forums for those prices. i'm surprised they didn't go for more on ebay though.

no, I didn't feel you were calling me a liar. You just seemed in a little bit of disbelief. So, I added those links. Furthermore, I did start out with 200 NES games for sale on the forum and it just seemed like I was hard pressed to squeeze $3-4 out of people for a single game. And I wormed quite a few good games out for that kind of money. Not super rare games but some less common ones in excellent shape. But I guess you can't expect to sell things overnight on the forum, it just takes time.
DV, i could have looked on there but it seems like everytime i try to work with acrobat, something fails or locks up. All i was looking for was round numbers or something in the vacinity of. I may want to work hard on DC because the stuff is still available in better condition and work on genesis on the way. I guess we'll just have to see how things go. Thanks a bunch,

Dave got that amount of money cause the majority of his stuff was sealed (sold him a nice lil $1,300 chunk from his former collection) but i dont think this would be someting to lower demand. Just another collection where the panesians, stadium events, and myriad 6 in 1 are staying put making the the top few rare games one less easier to find. Anyways, thanks for the heads up on the seasonal buying/selling tips....guess i'll hold off selling the nes collection for another few months.
