Check out the high bidder on this auction's feedback.

I was happy to get my BIN- not entirely unexpected since I just set the BIN's around previous auctions end price. But I didn't realize it was the same deadbeat as before. Now I have to go through a bunch of trouble to get my fees back and relist. But I'm still helpless! The guy has lots of neg's, but will that get him kicked off? Will being a deadbeat twice in a row get him kicked off? It doesn't matter if he was kicked off. All it takes it is a freebie AOL disc to get an account on eBay, right (email address)?

My auctions (I only sell infrequently) were going so well. Now this... Yecch.

you also need a credit card number to get an ebay account.

Get their EBAY contact info and call this person ASAP. If you can't contact them, email Safeharbor and let them know their info is bogus. Not much else you can do to stop idiots like that from bidding.

PS, I like your Channel F avitar!!!

Actually you need CC only to sell items. It's there to cut down the number of fraudlent sellers. Anyone can be registered on eBay.

As for gewtting that loser off eBay, all it takes is 3 deadbeat bidder report to get perm ban. (2 will get you one month suspension)

Do take the time and trouble to report the loser.

I thought you needed CC if you were using a freebie account (Hotmail etc)... maybe they've changed it since I signed up...

Can't you just ban him from bidding in your auctions? :?:

@tritoch I can? I should look into it. I'd have cancelled the bid if it weren't a buy it now that he won the item with- twice.

I wrote to that stupid problem resolution thing, though I doubt it will help. I will file a nonpaying bidder as well. It's just frustrating since I don't sell constantly and I probably could have sold this if it had sat up for a few more days. Talk about a sour apple.

Why do people do these things? Is it that much fun, given all the exciting things one can do on their computer these days? Must be some kind of fantasy/power trip.

@MrRetroGamer That's not a Channel F avatar- that's me and my wife enjoying a good game of Channel F.

Yes you can block bidders. Its a little bit tricky to find so heres the link:

NESCollector75 beat me to it. I've blocked several people I experienced bad deals with, and they never bothered me again. :D

Thanks for that info. You guys are eBay masters, and it's unclear whether that's a compliment. Seriously, though, it's good to know these things. Getting around the site can be abysmal. I wish I'd know about this blockage before.

You have 872 feedback and no negative comments? Nice!

You can block bidders (I usually block them if I had a bad prior experience with them). But, you can't stop an unknown bidder from bidding on a BIN auction before they bid. You usually don't know about them until it's too late!
