It must have been about 1988 or 1990. sometime around then my dad took me to a Nintendo World Champtionship convention in NYC. I played against other kids and I sucked. I remember that it got CRAZY crowded so in order to clear the place out a bit, they were giving out a Mario or Luigi plush to each person as a parting gift, if they left. I got the mario and my dad got the luigi for me.

So I have both of them, they have been sitting on a shelf, pretty clean. I can email pics if you want.

PM if interested.

I have not seen anyone else who has had these since that day at the event. so I assume that they are kinda rare. I am unsure what I would like for them (cash or trade). If anyone has web hosting space, I can email the image and link it to this thread.

pm me if interested or if you can host an image.

These little suckers are a pretty cool artifact of nintendo history and I almost dont want to part with them (I still might not, i dunno really) but if properly motivated....

Easy way to host images online. Free to. I have used it before.

Do these things actually have tags that say they are from the world champs. I would also love to see them. :-P

looks like Sph1nx is gonna host it for me. sent it to he/she this morning.

No, there are no "nintendo world championship" tags on them. I'll find out the maker and post that when i get home.

Honestly, they kinda look like the kind of stuffed animal that you would see in a 'crane machine'. These things were made way before nitnendo streamlined the image of what mario should be in regards to all nintendo products. I'm positive that these were outsourced by some premiums company that did a rush job. They look pretty funny. But it still stands that they are the offician parting gift from the world championships.

Does anyone know what year that took place? Now that I think of it, It could have taken place at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center in NYC. Can anyone confirm this? Was there more than one (year) of NWC events?

I just recall freaking out b/c the kind in line in front of me playing SMB3 didnt know where the whistle was, ha ha.

Images should be posted to the thread within a few hours.

Looking at the logo on the tag and the vinyl/leather shoes confirms that I've got one of those Mario dolls too.

:hmm:

Don't look at me funny! Thing is stuffed in an attic where it belongs.

Grandmother picked it up at a yardsale or something.

Those are defintely ghetto. But, they just gave me an idea on what I can be for halloween, Mario! I am always thinking about costumes. I love having good ones. Last year I was an Oompa Loompa. I will post pics if I can find them. I won 2 contests. Got $200! I live right near Salem, Massachusetts. It friggin crazy there all October.

Oh, I have one of those mario's. My sister won it out of a crane game for me years back. Of course, he's had to have his buttons replaced, his mouth is kinda in need of being put back, and he's not as fuzzy, but hell, its the same thing.

I saw the Luigi and a YOSHI in a crane game years back, myself. I remember spending damn near 5 bucks trying to win one of em.
