I was thinking about this recently since I am really starting to love playing my wonderswan crystal and i'm thinking about collecting all wonderswan and wonderswan color games (plus whatever limited ed sets i can get) but i have no knowledge of reading or speaking japanese.
Is anyone else like this?

That's like me with my FF6 SFC cart and my Dragon Quest IV cart as well. I don't speak or read japanese, but I got them just to say I had them and have a couple oddities in my collection, not to mention I am intrested in Japanese stuff.

I can't stand playing games I can't read myself. If you want em to collect, cool, but for me, I don't see the point. Ones that are playable with no language skills, sure ;)

I've got quite the slice of Japanese retro-collection goodness on my Playstation shelf, but for the most part it's already stuff I know how to play.
There are exceptions, though, and it drives me nutz. LOL

I only have four SFC games at the moment (which is my whole import collection), but I plan on getting a matching set of SFC and Famicom games that I already own US copies of. The reason...I like the packaging and artwork, and I think its a good way to continue my collecting urge once I get all of the US games I want. Oh, and I can't speak or read any Japanese.

There are alot of people who buy imports. Most games won't be that big of a deal since you'll be able to figure it out. It can be a pain with some RPG's though, of course thats a good excuse to learn a little Nihongo

I have a lot of them (Most not very import friendly), and hope to be able to learn the language and play them one of these days.

I never had any problems dropping lost of money on crap I couldn't understand. I had quite a few un-subtitled animes, and a few games I couldn't for the life of me read, but still enjoyed them (no RPGs in there).
Guess it just depends on your reasons for collecting.

I personally don't own any import games (I do have an import Platinum Gameboy Player, but I bought the US disc off www.nintendo.com for $15) but I dont see anything wrong with getting them. I don't think I would get any RPGs or text-heavy games, but for most games that shouldnt be a problem i would say get them if you want them.
