describtion says:

This exclusive Nintendo GameCube is one of a kind. To celebrate the launch of the action-packed F-Zero GX racing game, Nintendo commissioned hot graphic artist Ron Jonzo to customise the GameCube with all proceeds raised, to be donated to the Starlight Children's Foundation. As fast as Starlight grants wishes more seriously ill children are referred to Starlight. Starlight receives neither Government nor Lottery funding and relies entirely on the generosity of the public...so what are your waiting for - get bidding now! http://members.ebay.co.uk/aboutme/cakenint/

Ever wonder if the money actually makes it to the charity when you hear about someone selling things for charity?

I'm not trying to derail this thread or demean this auction, however.

I could honestly do better than that. It looks like someone put some spraypaint and stickers on an Indigo Cube. I love F-Zero GX quite a bit, and this system does nothing to capture the essence of the game. There's instances of overspray, most noticably on the right hand side of the gray controller socket thing on the front. The sticker on the front covers the rubber foot, and the groove cut into it where the bottom piece attaches looks very unprofessional.

If this was indeed commissioned by Nintendo, they oughta get their money back.

I like the cause that the $$ from the auction goes for, but I think the Cube looks horrible.

It doesn't look like a professional work and the guy selling it has (0) feedback. But there are 14 bids and the price is pretty high...

Hmmm... Where's my spray can?

The "seller" is Nintendo UK's PR firm Cake...

I'm with you. The stencils look horrible, and the ship looks pretty good but it's just painted on an Indigo machine. No background or anything.

Call me odd...but I just noticed the power button is pushed in. Thats all.

Oh well, looks decent. But doesn't seem really legit, cause charity auctions usually have more than a picture and HTML-less writing.

As for the GB Player...thats just the bottom of the gamecube. Hold your hand up to the screen and block out the part that you think is the game boy player and see the difference.

Yeah, it looks super-unprofessional. Seriously...like a 3rd grader did it with some spray paint, stencils and decals.

That thing is poorly done but at the same time all-right. It does look like cheap stickers were just put up all over it though. I hate the indigo color, on the gamecube, so me personally would never wan to own it.

Anyone else find it funny the auction title says "on eBay" in it?

if i had a choice between that or a plain indigo GC, i would buy that, but does look handmade..

mainly the lower right corner where it has the white ship sticker... the ship covers the rubber grip, and also the front tip of that sticker is peeling off

Hrm, I just did a somewhat basic search for Ron Jozno, and the only results that came up were related to this cube. Wouldn't be at all suprised if this is a fake.

That thing looks like a complete piece of crap. If Nintendo really did commission this, you would think they would have had a GB Player put on it and some custom painted controllers to go with it. I would have to say this is a fake, but I don't want to bad mouth it if it is really for charity.

What a shitty hack job. That is 100% a scam. No question.

Lookit this way: If Nintendo were to auction a customized GCN for charity, you would see the announcement on their website.

I too think it's a scam. Heck, if I wanted a customized design on my GameCube, I'd ask my uncle to do it for me (he's great at drawing and even studied in graphic design), and I'm sure the result would be nicer than that.

Besides, it's one thing to sell a customized console for a one-of-a-kind look, if the person has any talent whatsoever, and it's another to pretend that it's for charity. And wouldn't advertising fake charity auction be a crime anyway?

It must have been a really basic search - the first result in Google confirms that Ron Jonzo is a UK graphic artist of some renown.

Personally, I think the auction is legit, but that doesn't mean it's not one ugly piece of sh*t.

I found it humorous that damn near every result after the first one was about this whole Gamecube auction.
