I do remember seeing a foil cover Spawn in the area. I will have to search around during the next week. I have not found a video game magazine of the time period (probably mid to late 1997) to check advertisements and reviews/previews. I will let you know if I find something.

Being comic related and put out by Sony, 1 out of every 50 copies does sound feasible but with comic books it closer to one out of ten for a alternate cover.

The Spawn Variant is like the Spyro Metallic Variants.... They were the first run, and then they pushed the same cover just as a printed cover.... On the backside of the Chromium manual (the part that you'd see when you open the case) is a ad for "1997 The Year Of Spawn" and its pushing the comic and the movie and the HBO cartoons of then as well...... The back insert is printed and as far as ive ever seen the same on both versions...
