What's your gaming backlog? What games have you picked up but left neglected other than making sure they work, but you plan on playing and beating in the near future? I'm starting to save up for a house down payment, so I'm "switching" from a collector to a gamer for a while if I know what's good for me. Let's keep the discussion to Dreamcast and prior...

NES:
Castlevanias 1-3

TG16:
Lots of stuff (Ninja Spirit, Splatterhouse, Bonk 2, Legendary Axe, etc.)

Genesis:
Alien Soldier
Splatterhouse II

SNES:
Castlevania IV

Saturn:
Radiant Silvergun

PSOne:
Metal Gear Solid
Parasite Eve

N64:
Indiana Jones
Ogre Battle 64
Sin & Punishment

Dreamcast:
Berzerk
D2
LoK: Soul Reaver
RE: Code Veronica (playing now, second disc)

What's on your plate?

Cheers,
Ben

I don't think I could document them all, seriously.... there's too much x_x

There are so many that I planned on playing through. Some I would play halfway through, and then wait until I got the sequels or prequels to finish beating it, but never again picked up the game. The Legacy of Kain Series is like that with me. Same with the Resident Evil series. I know you said Dreamcast and on, but I am that way with the Zelda series too. I have been waiting to beat wind waker until I got through the Collector's Disk and the other Disc (I don't remember the name of it, but it has Ocarina and Master Quest), but I still have even begun playing collector's disc.

I have a lot of games I want to play and beat. The list would be to damn long to make. Plus I want to hook up each system and test them and the games to see if all the crap I have works.

About 400 games, give or take. Seriously.

It'd take me quite a while to put together a list like that. That's only counting the games I bought to play...not use as trade bait/resell. @_@

Over 100 for me, easily.

I'll get to them. I swear!

I would estimate between 75 and 100 games

My next big adventure is hooking up the old Odyssey2 and testing it and all the games I have for it. Then it'll be on to the SNES, as it has sat for too long and I've gotten about 25-30 games I havent tried for it yet. Too many games too little time! Now I'd probably have already done this if I wasnt hooked on some Xbox games (Ghost Recon and Morrowind GOTY)

This is why I only buy games I know I want to play through... but obviously a whole bunch of them take a backseat. Admittedly I buy games I don't really care about, but when you find them for $2 complete at some store, it's hard to pass up. Or I'll pickup sequels that I know aren't very good, but they're just there for the collection (Alundra 2, ect)

SNES:

Actraiser
Illusion of Gaia

PS1:

Alundra
Arc the Lad: Collection
Breath of Fire IV
Brigandine
Dragon Warrior VII
Final Fantasy Origins
Grandia
Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth
Legend of Mana
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete
Ogre Battle
Parasite Eve
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
SaGa Frontier
SaGa Frontier II
Star Ocean: The Second Story
Threads of Fate
Vagrant Story
Valkyrie Profile
Vandal Hearts
Wild Arms 2

PS2:

Arc the Lad: Twilight of Spirits
Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance
Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
Burnout 2: Point of Impact
Clock Tower 3
Dark Cloud
dot.hack//Infection
Escape from Monkey Island
Grandia II
Kingdom Hearts
Legaia 2: Duel Saga
Shadow of Destiny
Suikoden III
Summoner
Summoner 2
Wild Arms 3

GameCube:

Hitman 2
Legend of Zelda Collector’s Edition
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Resident Evil Zero
Starfox Adventures
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell

These are just the games I intend to 'finish', games that have a definitive end. Others like F-Zero and Soul Calibur need to be completed (unlock everything) but are incredibly low priority.

Yea, I have a lot of games I have never beaten...Most of my NES games are in this category. Some newer games that I lost interest in are also here.

Heh,
For all you guys who wrote "too many" or "hundred plus", maybe it's time to quit buyin' for a while? LOL

Surely some game titles rise to the top of your memory, as ones you'd like to play more than others...

Cheers,
Ben

I agree, I can say I have a 100+ backlog and realized that a fair number of them, I really have no interest in ever really playing. So now I'm only buying the games I know I'll be steeped in the instant it gets delivered.

so the new backlog is
2600
Tapper
SwordQuest(s)
Midnight Madness
NES
burgertime
bubblebobbke

PS2
Gallop Racer 03
Mad Maestro

I probably have 50 or so games that I haven't finished...maybe more. My problem is that I start playing some games, lose interest, come back to it later...etc. My list includes:

Apple II
Bard's Tale II & III - been meaning to finish these for years...right now I'm trying to get ADT to work so that I can get my characters off my disks and onto my PC to use on emulator.

PS1
Lots here...FFIX, X, FF Tactics, Xenogears, Grandia, Vandal Hearts, Vagrant Story...and that's not even a complete list, just the ones I intend on getting to first. I never had a PS1 back in the day and picked all of these up once I got a PS2.

PC
Almost too many to count...
FF8, Grandia II, HOMM1, 2, 3 (I've never picked up IV because I've never beaten the others), WC3, Black & White, Dungeon Siege, Anachronox, DX: Invisible War, Dungeon Keeper, C&C: Red Alert 2, XIII, Monkey Island 2-4, Myst III, any Black Isle RPG, Homeworld...and a bunch of other bargain titles.

And I won't list the PS2 and GCN gamez, although some of them - like the abysmal Bounty Hunter game - I have no intention of ever finishing. Most of my NES games I've already beaten - at least the ones I care to, anyways.

So many games just aren't worth the effort.

Funny- I just used "backlog" last night explaining to my wife why I probably won't ask for many more games. I thought I was behind but seeing most of the above posts puts me somewhat at ease. My "loose ends":

Primal (over 1/2way thru, now playing)
Clock Tower 3 (havent started)
Virtua Fighter 4: Evo
Sky Odyssey
Mr Mosquito (still sealed from last Valentines Day!)
Mad Maestro
Deus Ex
Gauntlet: DL
Simpsons: RR

SNES: Super CV 4, Shadowrun, Zelda LttP (tried just to see them but hope to eventually finish)

Also want to replay:
Silent Hill 3
BloodRayne
Fatal Frame
Baldur's Gate: DA

Whew...

Lots of RPGs. Wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for the fact that I want to go back and replay a bunch of the older games (On Mario RPG right now, finished Adventure of Link a day ago (and that game is a BITCH)).

Boy, I couldn't even list them all... it would probably be quicker to list games that I DID finish... But, my worst unfinished game has to be Metroid Prime... I played that game religiously for weeks on end, and I loved every minute of it (Except for that fight with Meta Ridley, which was frustrating). I got all the way up to right before the final boss, and for some reason I just stopped. I haven't even SEEN the final boss, although I just have to jump some platforms and kill some metroids to get to it. Problem is, it's been at least a month since I stopped playing, so if I jump back in now, I'll probably have lost my "nack" with the game, and have a hell of a time trying to beat it again. I've seriously considered just starting over again from the beginning.

I also got very close to beating Wind Waker just a few days ago, but haven't gone through with it. I don't plan to give up on that one though, I should have it beat by next week at the latest.

Some other notable unfinished games include Chrono Trigger (I just completely lost interest in this one), Grandia II (that's another where I was REALLY close to the end), Mario & Luigi (Okay, I just got it for Christmas, so it's not like I've left it for that long), and Pac-Man World 2.

There are so many NES games that I just can't get into.. crappy platformers mostly.

My biggest backlog comes in with the PS1 as I only had a N64 for a while. I didn't get into PS1 until a year or so after the PS2 came out.. lots of RPGs.

Everything I haven't gotten to yet are for my newer systems

XBOX - Mat Hoffman Pro BMX 2, Quantum Redshift
Gamecube - Monopoly Party, Godzilla: Damm
PS2 - Activision Anthology

And honestly, I haven't even really touched a game for over a week. All my energy has been sucked from my body, so I've been sleeping a lot and watching some basketball...and spending too much time online.

Not sure of an exact number, but triple digits sounds right. Maybe it is time to start playing some of these.

I have the same problem. I play a game like hell (usually RPG's) and I don't lose interest at the end, I just have no desire to do the required leveling up/getting cash for armor and weapons/finding time to go through the decidedly massive end dungeon/playing the end boss a dozen times until he actually goes down.

So many RPG's suffer from this, and recently I've been really good about beating them shortly after I set out... but I'm already getting annoyed with the end of Suikoden III. I hate the fact that I have to level up, buy armor for, train, and sharpen weapons for THREE FULL GROUPS OF SIX CHARACTERS. I'm past one, I'm pretty much finished beefing up the second group, and I've still got the final battle to go... but I'm right there, I have to finish.

It's in my nature to get to the very last part in a game and just abruptly stop. Must be my uncontrollable procrastinating nature. 90% of the games I have are saved at the last part, lol. This accounts for Action, Adventure, Sports, Racing, RPG's and other genres.

The other 10% account for turn based games "a very few rpg's", my favorite and most addictive type of game that I just can never put down once I start.

If it says "tactics" or "turn based" then I will eat it up. It has to be squad based on a grid though. I love typical Rpg's too, but grid based is my favorite flavor!
