I often play by myself, but that's because I usually can't find a second player. Co-op play IS very fun, however. I'm a bit more partial to single play, though. I'm so very lonely... :(

Depends on the game I suppose. I am at ease when I am playing Phantasy star online by myself offline. But love to interact with my pals in multiplayer mayhem. And playing with a trusted partner is always fun. I voted for care not do I. But does this include online play ? I do like playing most games in single mode. But also like a challenge of a human competiter.

It's better to play with a group than to play with yourself.

When I play with someone else it's usually my older son, so it's quality time. Much fun.

Some of my fondest gaming memories involving my mom, who could kick my butt at just about anything on the Odyssey2 or 2600. A big part of the two-player experience is trash-talking your opponent, and nobody could trash-talk me like my mom could. LOL Our Odyssey2 baseball games were legend. My dad and my brother would gather round to watch, if only to see why we were "arguing" so much. That made it a family event. First time either of us ever laid eyes on a Ms. Pac-Man machine, my mother handed my ass to me on the first game. She could've given anyone reading this a run for their money.
My brother used to take me to the arcade all the time too. I remember exactly where the arcade was (the building's still there now, only vacant, and I can't drive by it without wanting to lease the space and fill it with games), I remember what games were there, which games we could beat each other at, and the music he'd blast on the drive home (usually the Synchronicity album by the Police, Journey's Frontiers, or Fantasy by Aldo Nova). Listening to that music, playing the same games via emulation or what have you, these things are mental comfort food to me.
A lot of my games now are solo-player-only, and I'm OK with that, but let me tell ya...what I wouldn't give to once again have someone around who loved this stuff as much as I did. Because with my family, back in my day, you didn't go off to your room to play games. You got together with everyone else in the den to play games. I really miss that.

The more, the merrier! Sure, I can get along solo, but like sex, it's always best when it's one on one ;)

I like co-op games that give players seperate viewing areas because then it doesn't devolve into seeing who can kill their buddy first by jumping crazy in Contra.

When I was younger, and for the majority of my early gaming life, I was a military brat, moving often, and therefore didnt have many play partners as the average child so I pretty much didnt have a choice in the matter lol But even now, I dont enjoy many multiplayer games except for the blast I had on PSO with some online friends, wrecking cities in War of the Monsters with friends and, of course, manslaughtering aliens in Contra. Other than that -- and during the SF2 craze of the 90s -- I'm mostly a 1P type of guy.

One player, please. TurboGrafx/PCE has the right idea, only one controller input. ;) (unless you get a multitap. But one player is the way to go for me.

I like to play alone, but like to play two players alot too. It's just most of the good games that I like, are only 1 player games.
I used to play more 2 player but now am a 1 player kind of guy.

I like 2 player games. I like playing with other people. Especially sport games.
