I have a lot of magazines (old Times, National Geographics) that I'm going to ebay individually... what's the best way to ship these, both costwise and making sure they arrive in the same condition I mailed them?

Go to a comic shop, get some cheap cardboard backers (or even cut up some boxes), wrap them in plastic of some type (again, comic shop), and use basic legal paper sized enevelopes. My parents have done it for 4 years now without an issue.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I *think* he meant which shipping method?
I'm wondering if they'd let you go media mail.. I'm not sure they would; the website says:

Media Mail™ service is a cost efficient way to mail books, sound recordings, recorded video tapes, printed music, and recorded computer-readable media (such as CDs, DVDs, and diskettes). Media Mail can not contain advertising except for incidental announcements of books. The maximum weight for Media Mail is 70 lbs.

Magazines have lots of advertising in them..

Actually, the packing method was part of my question. Sounds good, but what happens about bending it? Is cardboard enough, will putting "do not bend or fold" sufficient?

I knew media mail was out, so I guess it's first class mail.

Actually with magazines, media mail and 1st class are pretty close.
Usually around $1.50 - $1.80 either way.

Put "Pictures Please Do Not Bend " . At my post office they say that when they see that they give it a little more respect.

Well, media mail is out since it has advertising, but you can ask about bound printed matter (I was reading up on Postal Rules & Regulations tonight) It's a tad more than media, but supposedly less than parcel & first class.

I've never had a problem with the cardboard method & "do not fold" stamped on it. Also, to protect the magazine, get some of the cheap non-zip lock baggies. I think you can get them 50 for $2 if you buy the off brands. Slip the magazine in, tape it up, and tape it to the center of the cardboard. Keeps the elements at bay incase the unfortunate happens.

Thanks for the advice... I've never seen baggies that big, but I'll keep an eye out.
