HELLO,
Today I found at a local gaming shop (not a babbages, eb, or gamestop, a real video game store that carries everything) and I found there a Brand NEW, never opened Turbografx 16. The guy said he has had it for a while but was stored away in the back room, and just finally had room to put it out, so that's why when I was in there before didn't see it. Anyways, I ended up buying it for $35, and again its brand new, never opened. (Below is a link to one that is on ebay right now, looks exactly like it but is in perfect MINT shape)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3073633856&category=4315&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWA%3AIT&rd=1
My question was that if that was a good deal for it, $35, and again is brand new, perfect mint condition. When I got home I opened to check it, took nothing out of the plastic yet though, and was indeed brand new, still had that fresh just opened smell, doesn't everyone like that smell!
So I didn't no if I should keep it or play it? Is there any good games for it? I would have plugged it all up, but the owner said he didn't have any games for it, at the moment anyways?
My thing is mostly Nintendo and Sega things so have no clue what I have on my hands. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! THANK YOU!

I'd say you got a good deal. People that still collect for TurboGrafx/PC-Engine are very hard core.... new means a lot. While PC-Engine / Turbo prices have basically bottomed out over the last 3 years (you should see what some stuff USED to cost) sealed games still bring in a ridiculous amount of money... at least on the Japanese side. I would assume the US would be similar.

Did this gaming shop have any more of these by any chance? :D

I would say that you got a pretty good deal. Personally, if you don't already own one i would open it and get some games and play with it. It can never provide any enjoyment if it stays sealed.

Put it on ebay, buy a used one for much cheaper and use the profit for games.

I'd agree with 1bigmig. Sell it on Ebay and buy a used one . You can get them for $25 on Ebay all the time.

agreed, sell it and use the money for a nice TG bundle on eBay, you can get the system with like 12 games for what a sealed one might bring.

I fourth that... unless you like to play on mint brand new stuff. If that system didn't have a game, it's probably one of the ones you used to be able to buy online for $40. But obviously, like everybody has already said and showed, that was still a great deal.
Oh, and you definitely want to keep that system (or get a used one) and play it. Everybody's opinion is different, but I've owned almost every system from the NES era up until today... and the Turbo kicks the shit out of all of them. Check out Devil's Crush, Bonk's Revenge, and Blazing Lazers. You'll agree, too. Look at http://www.pcecp.com , and check out all of the games. If you plan on getting into the Japanese stuff, get a PC Engine Duo and a voltage reducer. That way you can play all of the games. That the set up I have (TG-16 AND PCE-Duo), and I think it was cheaper, and better, to go that route. Hope you have fun! :D

Well...
First of all.. i find it very hard to believe you know nothing about it..
I mean, if you know what a sega is, and a NES is,, and you FOUND this site...
then you know how to find info on games and stuff.
I mean christ you coulda just opened up a search engine and typed in
TURBOGRAFX 16 and got instant answeres lol.
I know where there are sealed TG16's and CDROM's never opened..
no joke.. the guy wants $100 for both units together and will throw in
a shrinkwrapped red alert.
if that helps you in anyway then ,,, well alright...
also...
He has sealed turboduo's for $100 with a free red alert.
Is it worth it?
YEP
I didnt even know what a NES looked like until i owned a turbografx 16
for half a year. It was my system of choice.

I really don't know what a turbografx 16 is like. You said you didn't know what an NES was unitl about half a year after your turbografx 16, and the NES is known worldwide! No one, thats not a collector of course, knows what a turbografx 16. I didn't start my gaming until the NES and Sega MS and was only a little boy then, so I wouldn't say don't have interest, but no nothing about before then. I really don't know anything about the other systems that have come out in the 90's either. I was too busy kicking but on my SNES, N64, and Dreamcast.
But anyways, that does help a little, THANKS ALOT!!
Game ON! :D

If you like Zelda, grab Neutopia too. I may be an NES fag, but I enjoy Neutopia more than Zelda.
