Greetings.. this post is in reguards to an adapter for my game genie i heard about just recently for my nes toploader

http://www.nesworld.com/a-gg101.htm

I understand that this adapter is rare. i tried contacting galoob, which is now owned by hasbro and hasbro's response was tough luck you should have asked galoob when they made these adapters... problem is i was not notified by galoob that they were available, yes i sent in the registration card so i was upset to find out that i wasn't notified... anyways...

I got my w2's from my work and i'm now waiting on my bank to send me my interest statements before i can e-file my tax return..

My question(s) is:
Does anyone have a working adapter they want to sell?
If so:
Would you mind if i wait for my tax return before i send you my payment for it..
Also what would you want for this adapter.. i am a poor college student by the way.. I get 11hrs a week min wage at my college working for them.. i have a second job but that factory hasn't been doing well so i haven't been able to work for them in the past 3 months hence the min wage job at my college i had to get.. yeah i applied for holiday jobs and such and i only got 1 interview and they turned me down.. a guy with 2 associate degrees can't get a temp holiday job.. great.. yeah i'm still in college trying to get my bachlor's degree then i'm done at college.

Anyways.. if you have one you would like to part with let me know.. I really would apprciate a working one.. why it wouldn't work i don't know it should be just a simple adapter with nothing that can really go wrong in it but i will ask for a picture of it working or something so i can be sure it does work.

I really don't know how much one of these goes for so i may have to wait to pay you after my tax return comes. i got enough in my bank account for next months insurance and some gas money and not much else is my point.. i'm just asking ahead of time incase someone has one that they may want to get rid of..

I recieved your email but I have tried using the black nes game genie and it did not work on my top loader nes. I really need that adapter galoob made.

to try to get the black style game genie to work after i found out it didn't fit i tore it down to the bare minimum to try to get it to work but alas.. i couldn't get it to fit still.. very odd.. i don't know if its the circuit board thats too big or what.. i litterally tore it into close to nothing to get it to work but it didn't. I would never do that to my gold edition though cause i was told by others taht a black version could possibly work but not on mine.. i need that adapter in the webpage link i posted.. this is what i ask for...

Does anybody know what the Black Game Genie is for? Maybe I'm just doing something wrong, but I couldn't get it to fit in my Toaster NES. I mean it will fit, but the mechanism won't push down. Isn't the Gold Game Genie sort of stepped down so you can do that? It's been well over 10 years since I've used one.

the mechanism isn't going to work like normal when you have the game genie inserted. It's just not possible. The game genie is literally just jammed in the unit on the toaster model. I have no idea what the black game genie is.....There may be an adapter but I don't know about anything else. I guess I'll have to look....

Ok maybe i didn't make this clear enough... I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A BLACK GAME GENIE.....

I AM LOOKING FOR THE ADAPTER MADE BY GALOOB AFTER THE TOPLOADER NES CAME OUT AND PEOPLE STARTED CALLING UP GALOOB COMPLAING THAT THE GAME GENIE DOESN'T FIT INTO THE TOP LOADER...

THIS ADAPTER WAS MADE TO CORRECT SOME SIZE PROBLEM IN THE GAME GENIE SO YOU PLUG THIS THING ON TO YOUR GAME GENIE AND THEN PUT IT INTO YOUR TOP LOADER NES... IT ONLY IS MEANT FOR THE TOP LOADER NES AS WELL AS YOU CAN READ IN THE PICTURES ON THE LINK I GAVE ABOVE....

THERE IS A PICTURE OF THE FRONT AND BACK OF THE ADAPTER AND YOU CAN CLEARLY READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE ADAPTER WHEN YOU CLICK ON THE PICTURE....

I AM ONLY LOOKING FOR THIS SMALL ADAPTER FOR THE GAME GENIE....

THE RIGHT PICTURE GIVES ALL THE DETAILS OUT FOR YOU... I THOUGHT SOMEONE WOULD CLICK ON THE LINK BUT APPARENTLY NO ONE DID SO I'M EXPLAING TO YOU WHAT THIS ADAPTER DOES.

THE WEBLINK BASICALLY SAID ALL THAT WAS DONE TO THIS ADAPTER WAS MAKE THE CONNECTOR THINNER BECAUSE THE BOARD ON THE GAME GENIE IS TOO THICK AND WON'T INSERT INTO THE TOP LOADER NES SO THE ADAPTER IS THINNER TO PROPERLY CONNECT TO THE TOP LOADER...

I am sorry for the caps lock but i wanted to make it clear cause somehow people are believing i'm looking for a black game genie but i'm not ... i'm just looking for this adapter shown in two photos on the link i gave.

wow, ya....I figured that out after I posted and clicked on the link. Sorry I couldn't help you with any of your questions, still no need for all the caps.

Anyways, I think the black game genie mentioned is probably a genesis game genie. That's the only thing I can think of.

grimlock16

yes i said sorry for the caps

The black game genie mentioned is not for the genesis.. it's for the nes ..there was a black game genie model made not gold but black..

I am looking for the adapter shown in the link i gave.

Yes i have been checking the web and search engines and ebay for this adapter but nothing yet.. just sites that say the adapter exists.. i'll pay well for this adapter though, just not an extreme amount say someone says they will sell it for 100... i'd say i'll look elsewhere.. it's just a simple adapter, it's rare, but an adapter nontheless.. i'm not paying 50-100 for one. I'd pay $30 for one though probly..

ill sell you mine for 150, if you think its a simple adapter, you are looking in the wrong place among a den of collectors and nes enthusiasts. rarely do these even hit ebay, good luck finding one elsewhere

I will give a dollar more than what he is offering, for the adaptor.

i aint paying 100 for the stupid adapter.. i can live without it but you can't live without my $30...

...evil sinister laughter fills the room...

besides this is not the rants section of the message board unless you have a serious offer for me you shouldn't be posting in the buy sell section.

All I have to say is that you will be very lucky to ever find one for 30, there have been less than 10 of these on Ebay in the past year and each went for 60-100 apiece. You will definitely never find one for 30 here because too many other people are willing to pay 2-3 times that for one. Good luck on your hunt.

No, and that's because we don't have one. Someone gave you an offer, if you don't like it, just say "thanks, but I'll pass" no need to get huffy with them. People do know the value of their stuff here and generally rare, semi-rare, etc. items do not given away for a song.

As for some "stupid little adapter", tell that to the people that bid on Turbo stuff and buy the import adapters for those.

Lazingblazers and nesuser2 were just wondering above if there is an alternate you could try. No need to get huffy with them either. No one here claims to know everything I'm sure and are offering help and advice.

ok i thank you for the high offer but no thanks..

i'm not gonna spend 100-200 on a little adapter. i'd much rather spend 100 on a new hard drive for my ps2. that little adapter aint worth that much to me nor should it be worth that much to anyone but if i win the lotto ill email you.

Jesus christ. If you want to use a Game Genie that bad, just spend $20-$30 on a old-style NES so you don't have to get an adapter. There is no way anyone here will sell you one for under $100, so thats your best bet.

can you shave a regular one down to work? They cost very little and I would think it would be easy to rig up but I never use my game genie........I was thinking of trying this with my spare game genie though...

Then get a new 72-pin connector and put that in. Then the genies should work hassle free.

Those adapters are extremely hard to come by. Your best bet is to get lucky in the wild if you only want to pay $30, because I doubt you will find it for that price on ebay or here.

I actually ordered one of those pin connectors i just havenn't gotten it yet.

on the note of trimming the game genie I bought a black game genie just for that purpose. the black one is more easily cut then the gold one with my side cutters.. anyways i trimed the casing down to bare minimum to hold it together and it doesn't fit still. My next step will be to try and cut the outside edges of the pcb board edges on the connector.. my only thought on this is that the connector problem may be that it's too thick rather than too wide.. so if thats the case trimming the sides won't help any. i'm currently at college so i can't go home and trim the sides at the moment.

Hopefully the sides of the connector edge is all that is needed to be trimmed but if i remember reading right on other peoples websites is that the connector was too thick rather than wide and thats why a thinner adapter was made. if it was just a simple thing of trimming the sides someone would have posted that, that is the only thing that is needed to be done somewhere online. i'll try tommorrow sometime but the edge if i remember right isn't sticking out too far so i'm afraid i may cut too close to the pins but it's my junk game genie for this purpose anyways so i don't care if i cut too close or not.

why not just remove the case all together? It may not be pretty but it may allow the GG to run on the top loader.

That's what I had to do when I wanted my Famicom adapter to work on my top loader.

grimlock16
01-28-2004, 04:31 PM
I have thought of that... what do you think was going through my mind when i first started dismantaling my black game genie.. i tried. The pcb board is just too thick i imagine and that is the only thing i can think of at the moment. i removed 95% of the casing so far so the casing that is left is not even the problem.. i've checked with a flashlight and small mirrors and the casing isn't the problem i see when i go to plug it into the connector.. the board is just slightly bigger.. i'll go home tommorrow and quadrupple check but that is the problem i see. But there is not really much of the casing left all thats left is whats holding it together. why don't you cut apart a game genie and tell us how your progress goes.. you seem to have the answers anyways..

depends if its an MCM bit converter. MCM had really good quality ones about 3-5 years ago, worked perfectly.

I think about 2 - 2.5 years ago they changed and they don't work all the time.

I'm pretty sure there are 3 different bit converter companies out there right now.

Just be careful not to bend the pins on the new one

Also the boards on a GG and the top loader adapter are quite a bit smaller

Excuse me? Don't come asking for anything, any help, etc. in this forum if you're just going to have some snippy ass comment.

I had a suggestion, since all you mentioned was that you were shaving off the casing, so I just asked what would happen if you removed the casing all together. Never said it would work
