We've all got our milestones, whether it be "game number 1000", "complete collection x", "obtain all Activision cartridges", etc.

Each time you reach a milestone this year, enter it into this thread. It should be fun to check back in a year later to see what kind of progress we all made.

Who wants to go first? I haven't hit a milestone in awhile but I've got a few coming soon :)

I've reached a few milestones so far this year. Well, I s'pose you could call them milestones. I do anyway.

I reached 1000 unique games for my collection just a few days ago. Another milestone would be me FINALLY buying a Genesis after all these years. Never thought I'd ever own one, but I'm glad I finally do. A third milestone would be getting my very first Sega Master System game... which is Sonic the Hedgehog from some other country that's not the U.S. That may not be a milestone to some, but to me, it's a big deal.

Here's to another successful year of gaming full of rare finds, quality imports, and two new Metroid games!

Reached 500 games a few days ago. Can't find the receipts to figure out which random PSX game it was, but I made it.

Only 19 more games to go until I reach 100 Genesis games.

Then i'll sell all the games I really don't want.

Also, to find a working copy of Pirates Gold!.

I found one last year, but after I brought it home, I realized that it was an empty cart.

As far as recently, I guess finally aquiring all the released Laseractive hardware would be a milestone.

I'm less than 45 games away from 4,000 total. Seeing how I missed all the other milestones (1k, 2k, 3k,) I am very psyched about NOT missing this one.

...

Does sitting through an entire JB Harold Murder game count? LOL

MILESTONE #1
Picked up a handful of VCS commons (to celebrate me re-arranging my games room this past weekend) which put me over 100 for the system (107 to be exact). That's my first 100+ game system.

MILESTONE #2
....to be determined....

I haven't reached any milestones yet but some I hope to try for...

Complete set of Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine
200 SNES games (I think I'm only about a dozen away from this)
200 PS1 games (might not reach this in 2004 as I need over 60)
100 Dreamcast Games (about 2 dozen away)
...and buy an Xbox...maybe...

I reached 1000 unique games. I dont know what # 1000 was but most likley a Genesis game.

I also reached over 400 boxed Genesis games. I hope to be over 600 Genesis games by the end of the year.

I am at about 500 different games, about half of them boxed (this does not include variations and what not.... with those, its more around 530. I hope to keep getting boxes and instructions for games i already have that need these. That's about it

I don't have any so far this year, so I'll just put down some goals:

1. 150 unique SNES games...about 90 now
2. 75 unique Genesis games...about 30 now
3. 100 unique 2600 games...about 50 now
4. Complete my 32X collection
5. Get a SMS, DC, TG-16, and Intellivision

and just add on to everything else in my collection and make more of the room game oriented

I want to get 400 NES games. I wrote a list of around 60 titles that I wanted to get this year--if I can get all of them, I'll be close to reaching my goal for the year.

Got my very first games for a system I don't even own. Ecco the Dolphin for the Sega CD and King's Quest IV for...some sort of old computer, or something.

Also rearranged the game room so it looks much nicer. True sign of geekdom: "Hmm...Would "Legend of Zelda" go under L or Z?"

Also rearranged the game room so it looks much nicer. True sign of geekdom: "Hmm...Would "Legend of Zelda" go under L or Z?"My first game for a system I didn't own yet was the Saturn 3-Pack. The Saturn didn't arrive for over a month after.

Anyway, I begrudgingly file the two Zelda's and other games under the first letter of the entire title, sand the word "The".

The Legend of Zelda is L.
The Adventure of Link is A.
Bart vs. the Space Mutants is under S because it's actually under "Simpsons".
But Krusty's Fun House is under K because it actually ends with "Starring The Simpsons".
Then Startropics is under S while the sequel is under Z for "Zoda's Revenge: The Story of Startropics II".

I could go all out and put all Zelda games under Z, all Simpsons under S, etc, but I wanna be correct. And order them the same way my listings order them. Damn the game creators for naming their games so differently!

Organization was my first milestone of the year. Nearly all of my games are now on some sort of a shelf or stacker, and all my systems (save the non-working RCA Studio II) are now hooked up and ready to go.

The previously mentioned kind of an alphabetizing mess is why I organize my NES carts first by distributor (Nintendo, Konami, SNK, etc.), then age. Which means that the black-label Nintendo releases come first, followed by the silver-label ones, then the rest. Konami's silver labels are first, then the rest. Data East carts are all together, black-label LJN carts are together, Tengen carts are together, etc, etc.

This system works a lot better with my Genesis and Master System carts, the majority of which are boxed. White SMS boxes are first, in age order (which I check via the last five main digits of the UPC codes). Then comes my sole Activision SMS game (Rampage, baby!) in its red box. Then the Genesis row starts with the early black-grid boxes, then the later ones, then moves on to the later red-stripe style. Then the EA cardboard boxes, then the EA oversize, then the Accolade/Ballistic cardboard...whoo! I didn't realize how tedious that actually is! @_@

They look much better on the shelf that way, though.

Next milestone: Getting all or most of the earliest NES carts and peripherals that I can, from 1985-1987 or so. (Save for Stadium Events, which I'll happily deny the existence of. )

After that: Building up the SNES collection, though I really don't want to shell out what I think it's going to cost to get the good stuff. Hopefully I'll get lucky this summer...

Well well...it has been quite a year for me.

1. I not only got to be featured in Tips & Tricks Mag(Jan 04), but also got to be featured in Video Game Collector #1.

2. Topped 3600 different games as of late, with 45+different systems

3. Down to 8 games for my US Nes set, half of them are complete

4. Acqired Powerlords for my Odyssey 2 set, 6 more and I have them all for a US set!

5. I have a boxed and complete US 32X set!

6. Down to the final 15 for Sega CD!

7. Acquired two Astrocade protos, Galaxian and "Solar"

Well last night i in a sense hit two milestones...

First i pushed 400 PSOne games. I went on a cheapie weird game spree and came out with 9 games from 3 stores costing about 30 bucks... pushing me to 403 PSOne games and 1/3rd of the way to a full NTSC-U library!

and the second which isnt really as much of a milestone as much as it was a finally found it, The insert to Mega Man 8 Collectors Anniversary Edition... which has been a thorn in my side for far to long....

The Adventure of Link is A.

I've always filed The Adventure of Link under Z, for Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

Milestone for me is getting organized. Got my entire collection cataloged, found a decent storage solution, and narrowed my collection to only handheld/portable devices. Looking forward to a good year.

I haven't gone on any Collecting runs in a while. I just haven't been able to get into it lately. Which is good. There have been severe cutbacks at work, and I'm down to only a few days a week. So I have to save money.

So I'm only going for what I really want. Animal Crossing is my latest and hopefully will keep me occupied. Of course, I'll have to make another NES/Genesis/DC/etc run before GS really does get rid of the games.

I even had to hold off buying that Famicom SP I so really wanted. And not just because the Importers raised the prices because of Nintendo's newest boneheaded move.

Started at 1178 games at the beginning of the year, I have now past the 1300th mark, and I'm now at 1334 (not counting label variations or extras). Now to see if I can finish up my Sega CD collection...

Pssh. You guys have nothing on me, as I am now officially a Level 2 Strawberry.

Seriously, though, here are some realistic milestones I hope to accomplish. I'll come back later if things come to fruition:

-Construct arcade cabinet
-Complete SNES collection
-Top secret project
-Level 3 Orange

Mission: "4k in 2k4" Complete!

4,002 games in the library. 4,000th was (if you count down the register receipt) would be Battle Arena Toshinden 1 (Not for Resale version). A rather honorable choice considering I am 43 away from the entire PSX US library. Yay!

Completed my NES collection tonight...at least in terms of carts. As an NWC cart, Stadium Events or any of the 3 Panesian games will likely only enter my collection if I find them in the wild, I have probably added the last domestically released NES title I didn't have to my collection.

The last game I needed was Romance of the 3 Kingdoms II, so I splurged on a complete copy and won it on Ebay tonight (go out in style, I guess). I'll still be looking for books and boxes, as I'm currently just under 500 for both, but unless I hit the jackpot, any future NES acquisitions will only be going to the tradebox.

Satisfying :) ...but at the same time, just a little sad. :(

Yep, both 1 and 2.Good. Because that's probably as close to a complete Square collection as I'll get until the prices on the FF games drop for the NES. Though, I do have a bunch of the Final Fantasy PSX games. My brother's a freaking FFFreak!

My first 2004 milestone, though trivial, is also pretty unusual. I completed my Sega Pico collection on Friday.

http://www.digitpress.com/images/picoThat's not trivial to me. I've been meaning and wanting to start a Pico collection. I currently have no funds to fund a collection like that, but when I do, I'll start on the Pico if only just to brighten up the shelves and make people say, "Whoa... what the hell are those?" "Sega made that?" "I had that as a kid!" "Whatis that? Some sort of Leap Pad?"

The only thing I'm working on in my collection right now is to get back a copy of all the Atari 2600 games I had as a kid. I'm doing this by hazy memories...but I think I've got the list correct.

And, I am just 6 carts away.

Atari Video Cube
Harbor Escape
Artillery Duel (single ender) - I have a double ender, but I'm trying to be correct about this :)
Pooyan
Skiing
Tron Deadly Discs

and I need a better copy of Fire Fly. :)

If I get this done, I'll put up a picture...the Atari 2600 was the system I cut my teeth on, and the games I had then are still my favorites...and I want them all back. I want this done more than you know.

I'm also going to work on shifting the focus of my collection. Basically, I don't want my collection to get much bigger. 1,300-1,400 games is enough...I'm happy with it.

But, I have a lot of games I don't like very much. It's the price you pay for buying everything you find I guess...so I'm going through and playing most of my games, those I don't like, are going to be traded away (hopefully) for stuff I want. You'll know when I'm ready...

This is actually a hard decision for me...I loive video game collecting, but I don't do enough playing...probably because I don't enjoy much of what I actually have.

I have decided that I'm not going for any major complete collections...so it's time to vote out the weakest links in my collection :)

I hit a kind of a milestone last saturday. I managed to find my first ever game.com games. I've had the system for about a year or two , but this was the first time i ever found any of the games , i actually found five of them , frogger , centipede , williams arcade classics , indy 500 , and jeopardy , even better , they were all mint in the box.

The other thing was that i found both the system and the games at KB toy stores.

Ok so my milestone is kinda a crock compared to most of the ones in this thread , but hey , its progress for me.
