Headset problems in SOCOM I

My brother just got his PS2 online, so he wanted me to get online with my PS2 and play a few games with him in SOCOM. We were able to meet up in a game, but we couldn't hear anyone thru the headsets. Both of our headsets would make that "bleep-bloop" sound when we pressed and held the circle button but thats all we could hear. Couldn't hear each other and we couldn't hear anyone else on our team. I know other people were using headsets too because the transmitting icon pop up from time to time in the game.

Anyone know what could be the problem here? I've only played SOCOM online a while back for a couple hours but didn't have any problems transmitting or hearing anyone then. I do use a router now though. Could that be the problem?

Which headset are you using? The one that came with the game?

some servers wont let u use ur headset, and sometimes during a game it will kinda lock up for a few minutes where no one can use the mic.

My roomates had that same problem. They returned them, got new ones and havent had a problem since. I always watch them play that game. It looks pretty good.
