My friend just gave me a copy of King of Fighters '99 (dreamcast). It is in pretty bad shape, but it still plays. I am worried about it breaking soon. The dreamcast makes aweful noises while reading it.
I was wondering if anyone knew how to make a back up incase it stops working. You can pm me the info if you cant post it.
Thanks

The DC usually makes alot of noise,be it with a game in perfect condition or very bad shape. To make DC backups, you're gonna have to hook up your DC to your PC.Then rip some stuff outta the game or downsample videos or music.Since DC games are on GD-ROMs you can't just make a direct copy to a cdr, unless the game is less than 700 megs.

Since we're talking about a NeoGeo port, I don't think you'd have to worry about ripping stuff out of the game to make it fit on a disc.

If the disk plays fine now, as long as you don't throw it around or mistreat it, it will play fine later. The Dreamcast (and any CD / DVD player for that matter) is made to read through scratches, and it will not hurt them any more for it.
If the disk stops working, fine a CD place that resurfaces discs. They will usually resurface any disc for a buck or two, and they'll work great. Don't use the Disc Doctor though.

Transferring to a PC can take hours and hours.
Playmore could have added intro FMV, WAV music, etc which could put it over 700Mb.
Just buy another copy.
Or. Download another copy since you already have one original copy.

I'm surprised collectors still recommend this garbage. Yes it works, but it makes your games look like utter CRAP. Easier, yes. Its only worth if the game is worth less than $1.
Just spend the $1-2 and get the disc professoinally resurfaced. It will both look and run like new.
Don't worry about the noise though...they sound like they are ready to break right out of the box.
