I recently traded a copy of the Zelda Colector's Edition disc to the forum member "chaoticjelly" (Who is in the UK) for a PAL copy of Doshin the Giant. I had been wanting to play this game ever since I saw some N64 and GCN previews, but never got to because Nint'y kept it from us Americans. Well, I started it today. And all I can say is: Wow. I just love this game. I couldnt tell what the point of it was. I even read the instructions because I was so confused. As it turns out, this game is yours (the user's) to do whatever with. You start with an island surrounded by ocean and 4 pairs of people. You can to do things to get the people to love you, like doing what their little thought bubbles say OR you can destroy everything. Pressing "L" switches you from the nice Love-Giant to the evil Hate-Giant. The Hate-Giant attacks and destroys. You can raise and lovwer the land with X and Y. If you do things the people like, you'll get their affection (represented by hearts)... but doing bad things leads to their hatred (represented but skulls). When a circle around the screen forms of hearts, the Love-Giant grows. The same for the Hate-Giant, but with skulls. If an import store has this near you, pick it up. Even if it's the Japanese one. You are given an island to mold to your lking. And it's great.

Sounds like a simplified "Black and White", as such, it sounds like a fun game! Thanks for the heads-up on this game

It's one of my fav GC games. i love it.
It's amazing that u can create ur own landscape.
I'm "creating" my island now already for 4 months and it looks awesome
(natural sand-bridges connect hundrets of green little islands......it's like paradise)
oh...and it's also good when u r in bad mood.
change to evil and start the smashing, killing and destroying
MUHAHAHHAAHAHA
and it's the most japanese game for GC released in the west by now

you would think with the overwhelming positive reaction to animal crossing they would release this game in the states.

I believe with Doshin there were several european versions (correct me if I'm wrong) so there was a version for English, French, etc.
I forget the person whom I talked to about it, but I believe it was because Doshin was so small, they made a different version for each language. I've got the UK release and it's all in English.
I like mine very much and I too built the sand bridges. Maybe it's just me, but it's a little too slow and there's no way to make Doshin run. So, half the day is spent walking from task to task. :)

ah the old problem. I was also pissed about the slowness first but now I use a simple trick: When I have a long walk I just change into badass-doshin(what's his name?) without destroying anything and jump till I reach my goal(takes bout 5-7 jumps to get from one end to the other end of the island).
Just beware u don't jump onto some people :P
