View Full Version : Joystick "Game Systems"...

I know it is sort of old hat to most about now, but I found one of those Atari 10-in-1 joysticks at a local Toys R Us, along with an Intellivision 25-in-1. While not perfect replicas of the originals, they are still pretty close...and darn cool to boot! I'm hooked on trying to find more of these types of game gadgets. I already have a Namco Classics 5-in-1 coming, and I have found some other Asian import ordeals here and there containing different games. I wonder, has anybody compiled a list of all known joystick systems? It would be interesting to know what else is out there....

Lesse...the first was the Activision one:

http://www.vidgame.net/misc/activision.htm

I believe there was a 10-in-1 for the Intellivision, same games I believe as the 25-in-1 but only available online.

I think there's a Spongebob one coming out at the end of the month, but I don't know what's on it.

Yeah, I saw that Spongebob joystick featured on a few sites. Looks like the games are original games created for the joystick...which is cool. I'll get it just because using Bob's nose to play games is just too funny...regardless of how good or bad the games are :)

Interesting. I wish I knew what the "52 games" were or look like however.

OK, that Spongebob joystick is weird and disturbing. It looks like the offspring of everyone's favorite limp-wristed loofah and a 2600 controller. The games look surprisingly good, though... it's hard to believe they're running from an 8-bit processor.

I'm bringing this forum back to life because I wasn't able to find any discussion on this "Dreamgear" 25-in-1. Has anyone seen it? Does anyone have it? I've been running across it in Wal-Mart, Pamida, K Mart, etc.

http://www.dreamgear.net/univ_25in1.html

I was wondering if the games were any good? Some of the screenshots look like they might be kind of fun, some of it doesn't. Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere. I haven't been keeping track of the forums like I used to!

Not to be a snob, but the fact it's selling in KMart and the like, and the games look like generic rips of more popular titles kind of makes it suspect. It gives off a pirated multicart sort of vibe, ya know? I'm not suggesting it's illegal so much as it's probably not too great.

I love my Namco 5 in 1. I think they're really cool things in general. The only thing I don't like is that they don't save your hi scores! I think if my Namco one had that feature I'd just leave it hooked up all the time. As it stands it's pretty cool for a quick blast :) The Sponge Bob could be an all in one console, mp3 player and coffee machine and I still wouldn't buy it! What's the big deal with Sponge Bob? I'm obviously missing something :)

Does anyone know what that spongebob one is based on? An nes on a chip, maybe? Usually they base these on scaled down versions of systems from the past, right?

Anyway, on a similar note, I picked up at the mall for $40 n NES all-in one type of joystick in the shape of an N64 controller (total pirate). It includes a little zapper gun and a 2nd controller in the shape of a Genesis clone. Awesome game selection on it too....there's somwhere between 76 and 320 games on it(haven't figured that out yet)...well, lot's of variations too, but not a bad little system. The best part? A famicom cartridge port on the back!

Also, has anyone seen those Radica all in one systems? I found one that was a soccer game with these little ankle starps for kicking the ball or something. THere was also one that was this weird snowboard controller...look like they are based on Genesis technology, but I"m not sure...

I also picked up an intellivision one at K B Toys..I believe it was a 25-in -1. I wonder why it didn't have a number pad on it (shoulda used a jaguar shell, heh heh).

Yeah, I've got one of those. It's basically NES hardware crammed into a controller, with some small games thrown together for it. As far as I know, the games contained in the ROM chip were never released for any other NES hardware. The games aren't spectacular, but still kind of cool.

JakksPacific was literally just GIVING them away at the end of the CGE. I got the two-player Atari paddle. Just Warlords alone is worth the whole package. Actually, Warlords is the only thing worth playing on it. Well, maybe Circus Atari too.

And no, there AREN'T just eight discreet positions to play from. The paddle moves very smoothly across the screen. Don't know what's up with that one review that keeps popping up when googled.

Thanks, that's sorta what I thought it would be like. Nothing great, but the screenshots actually look sort of interesting. I'm not expecting much, but my curiosity is nagging at me.

I have the original Activision one that I got for $5.39 at EB because it was 70% off. I also have a Technosource one that has original games on it, and it's shaped like a Dreamcast controller.

On an off note, but keeping on topic:

I have an extra "Super Joy III" tv game controller I am looking to part with. One of those 400 NES games in a joystick ordeals. If anyone has an interest, PM me.

Saw a MAXX Games 91-in-1 stick in the latest JcPenney catalog. The listing didn't specify which ones are included on it. A licensed Super Joy, perhaps?

Jakks Pacific games use a processor board made by Sun Plus. They don't have alot of processing power, but they've got good SNES quality graphics output, and cost VERY little to manufacture.
they use boards like SPG1000, SPG2000, and are not too easy to develop for.

I have the Ms Pac-Man one and Pole Position doesn't work (you can't steer)... is this common or did I get a defective joystick?

did you try twisting the joystick? That's how PP works on the Ms. Pac stick.

The games are somewhere between Action 52 and an early Sachen game in quality. They're all crap.

All of the TV plug-n-play games are seemingly on sale at WalMart for $15.08 until 9/05. (Not sure if this applies to the two-player Atari Paddle one though.) The price break was motivation enough for me to come home with a one-player version of the Paddle tonight. :)

15 clams just to play one-player "Pong" and, man, do I ever suck! LOL
