awww, I love this game!!!!!!

Honestly tho, I can see if you didn't play it in the day why you would not like it. I played it recently and forgot how badly I hated that *(^&*()@^%#&*(%ing ()#@^)*@#!mned )&#^!))#@!^*() *()#@^) )*^#@) (*@#^!(*) thing with the medallions in the end.

Honestly, I still love that game just because of the whole cheeseness of the thing.... especially the thing with the wounded Joe LOL

It ain't bad... it blows at first, just give it a chance and make sure you fight the Governers in the right order... http://www.gamefaqs.com should help........ considering I don't remember the order x_x

I know you have to fight the guy on the air cycle first, but grab an faq. It's a great game! :guitar:

Seriously...give this game a chance...play it for an hour or two, you won't regret it. Definitely worth playing allthe way through. I used to think it was crap until a friend told me the same thing about 12-13 years ago...I was glad I listened.

It's a great action game w/ some RPG elements to it. It's sorta mega man meets Castlevania III (only not scary and gothic).

I remember this game. At first it really sucked because you only have a crappy weapon. After beating a few bosses it wasn't bad. The thing that angered me was the password system (I hate long passwords).

Well, I loved the game when it first came out. In fact, I may go back and beat it again.

I must have gotten lucky with those medallions when I played the game back in 1990...I remember getting to the end and panicking when the medallion screen came up, but I banged it out to finish the game.

Wasn't there one boss along the way that was invincible or something? I remember having to start the game over because I couldn't beat the dude. Maybe there was a technique I didn't use or something.

This game is great because it has so much discovery and learning to it. It is the antithesis of modern mass-market gaming. Instead of being led by the hand through the entire game, you start out thinking WTF??!?!!!

Like someone already said, just play for an hour. Go out and explore the routes and talk to people and try to piece together the info you need to figure out what to do and where to go. I would advise AGAINST gamefaqs. If you like exploration, this quirky game is a lot of fun. But if you'd rather be spoonfed what to do from start to finish, this game is not for you.

I agree with most of what people have said. This game is a classic and I'm really sorry Vic Tokai stopped releasing games in the states. Back in the day they were one of my favorite NES companies.

Best way to get around that damn password system? Use a emulator and a original controller. ;)

And use a guide if you need to -- the game CAN be hard the first time out. Just resist the temptation until you need it.

Especially because if you fight the governers in the wrong order, they're damn near invincible.

And yes, the first time you fight the Demon, he's invincible... until you get that sword.

I'll agree with you guys on that game having a charm to it. Even though I never finished it, it was still fascinating and maybe I will go back and finish it.

Either way, you don't really even need a guide for it....way back when I beat the game in about two days...it's really not that hard. Any tough parts can be passed in a few tries or experimentation or backtracking.

Add me to the list of happy Demonhead players! :D

I bought the game when it first came out years ago. I remember being at Toys R Us with my mom. I had about $37, and I was thinking of buying Legacy of the Wizard cuz it was $35. But then I saw Clash at Demonhead for $40, and it looked really interesting. After reading the back and looking at the pictures, I knew I had to have it. So, after half an hour of clever pleading, I managed to coax my mom out of $5 so I could buy the game. I was not disappointed either. That game is a true gem, and not to be missed by anyone. It's so unique for the American market. But like someone said earlier, that stupid medallion machine at the end really drives me nuts. You can literally play through this whole game and lose everything at the end and have to play through the entire game over again. Just make sure you get the password before heading into the final area!

Incidently, some months after buying Demonhead, I rented Legacy of the Wizard to see what I missed out on. Several hours and many confusing situations later, I was happy I'd passed on it. LOL

Legacy of the wizard is actually a very good game if you canget the hang of it....it took me about 10 years. The hardest part is figuring out what order to do each person's quest in. I think it's pet, girl, mom, dad, boy (I forget their names). I think pet is lower right from dragon, girl is upper right, mom is lowerleft and dad is upper left. Boy just goes and gets the sword in the girl's area using warps in the lion heads and beats the last boss.

LOl. No seriously, play it with infinite health or use save states and I think you'll find LotW has some very good depth and gameplay (then play through it normally now that you'll know what to do)...if it wasn't so easy to die, this game would really shine. Oh, and screw it's password system!!

After I went through the whole game, I had an all new respect for the game. It is actually Dragon Slayer IV (msx, famicom, ?pc88?). Part V is better known as Sorcerian. Part II is known as ROmancia (MSX, famicom, ?pc88?). I forget the others now, but there's a crapload of them, plus spin offs.

I picked this game up about five years ago, and I was quite pleased. It is an overlooked "gem" for the NES indeed! If I remember, the jump control is a bit loose (like luigi in SMB2), but it's a fun game.

Legacy of the Wizard was one my first NES games I had, thanks to thinking it was cool when it was on QVC one time. I always got lost and confused and died trying to find anything in the game. lol

rbudrick, do you have any other info on the other parts of the LotW series?

Was that the game that they hyped up, saying stuff like "THIS GAME IS FANTASTIC. IT HAS THE BEST GRAPHICS EVER. LOOK AT THIS. IT'S AMAZING! THE BEST GRAPHICS EVER. YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT. CALL IN NOW. THESE ARE SELLING LIKE HOTCAKES. BEST GRAPHICS EVER!" LOL It was something like this, and at the time I agreed it looked pretty snazzy.
