The Snes is my favorite system of all time, and while I'm collecting for it, I run across some strange games. Four games stand out in my mind from the other obscure games, though.

Smart Ball, Spanky's Quest, Pocky & Rocky, and Pocky & Rocky 2.
(Smart ball has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard.)

These games are amazingly fun to play, and I really wish they had sequels. To cut to the point, I'm just curious to know if anyone else is a fan of these games. :)

Pocky & Rocky is a great series :) haven't played the 2 other games for a few years so i can't say anything about them ;)

I can't say I've played any of them..... :embarrassed:

Obscure games I like? I've always loved the Koei games, like Aerobitz 1 and 2, Liberty or Death, PTO 2 -- does that count? ;)

I liked Smart Ball back in the day, but I got it recently, and it made me fairly ill. Spanky on the other hand is pretty damn cool.

While I haven't ever actually played any of those, I remember Spanky's Quest always tempted me big-time at the rental store when I was a kid... Something about the box art made it stand out to me. Was it 2 players simultaneous?

I've played these games at least once... I used to think that Smartball was cute as a little kid. I still have a soft spot for that blue blob. And Spanky's Quest is quite innovative... any game starring a monkey is okay in my book! And both P&R games remind me of those overhead shooting scenes in Super C, only heavy on Japanese culture. Nothing wrong with that. :)

BTW, where is Natsume now? It would suck if they're dead... Shadow of the Ninja kicked ass. :(

Pocky and Rocky series=cool. I wish I had the actual games instead of playing the roms once in a while.

...

I confess. I never really got into Harvest Moon. :embarrassed:

Here's another Natsume SNES game... anyone ever heard of Wild Guns? It's a cool game, even if it blatantly rips off Blood Bros, the western successor to Cabal.

Pocky & Rocky was a good series...and I'm pretty sure I liked Spanky's Quest.

But a good obscure game that needs checking out is PLOK! I loved that game

Pocky and Rocky is definintly a good game, finally getting #2 in.. wohoo
And I second plok as being a pretty wild, strange, but entertaining platformer.

Plok is another great game! I forgot to add that one! Anyway, nintendo owns game freak, the company that developed smart ball, and I reall y wish they'd make a sequel, or at least make a game similar to it.

I am a big fan of wild guns. Something about battling robots back in the old west just makes good gaming, (does not make good movies. See Will Smith's wild wild west for more info). I need to ask you about this "blood bros.". I have cabal, but i havent heard of Blood bros. before. My ebay check didnt turn up anything. Enlighten me please?
The NES game "the punisher" is also pretty similar in the style of gaming. Thanks,

I'm sure what you all meant to say was "Pocky and Rocky WAS a good series." Has anyone played Pocky and Rocky with Becky for the GBA? Fucking terrible. Not worth the $10 I spent. And I LOVED the old games.

Well, the Havest Moon seires has been around for a while. Try the new GBA one, it's very similar to the PSX version. And there's a new one coming out for the GC that I have pre-ordered allready. :D

I have the Japanese version of Pocky and Rocky, Kiki KaiKai.

My favourite obscure game is a hockey game, Super Slap Shot. I have played many a hockey matchups of Egypt vs Israel.

Pocky & Rocky was an arcade game (available in MAME) long before it appeared on the SNES, wasn't it?

The Pocky and Rocky games for Snes are good. Very difficult. I remember my brother and I spent hours playing the first one to get to the last level. Part 2 was good, but it annoyed me that it had all these new characters yet player 1 had to be Pocky all the time, eliminating character combinations.

My favorite obscure Snes games are the Super Turrican games. They never seem to get mentioned much which is a shame cause I honestly think Super Turrican 2 is one of the best action games on Snes.

Run Saber is probably my favorite obscure SNES game.

Blood Bros was made by the Tad corporation, who also made Cabal. I'm sure it wasn't released on any consoles, but I know where to get the MAME rom if you want it. :)

Run Saber ROCKS. Okay, so it screams "Strider ripoff," but it's certainly heap loads better than that inexcusable P.O.S., Strider Returns.

I forgot about Run Saber. That was also a very good game. A ripoff of Strider, but a good one nonetheless. Though one thing it had that Strider did not was 2 player simultaneous play which was very nice.

What exactly was Spanky's Quest? The only obscure SNES game I can think of that stars a monkey is Congo's Caper, and I'm guessing it wasn't simply renamed.
