Sega Nomad Screens

I just recently bought some replacement screens for some spare nomads I have and for the life of me I can't get the original screen off... everyone makes it sounds so damn easy.. ahh..could I get everyone's tips/techniques for removing the original nomad screen.. Also, I would like to be able to remove them from the inside but I have no screwdrive that can fit a bit in those tiny LONG holes in the back of the nomad.. any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Just take a small flat head screwdriver and pry the old one off the front. No need to take the entire thing apart.

Believe me I tried that for a long time.. have you done this on a nomad? I'v talked to people who have done with gameboys but I've never talked to someone who has done it with a nomad..possibly these screens are more fragile

I ordered some screens for my GBC from Nintendo a few weeks ago. They send a little plastic hook with a flat bottom that has some industrial strength double sided foamy tape on it.

I imagine you can find the tape and figure out a way to fashion a hook onto it. You'll have to make sure it's really strong though. I had to put my GBC on the carpeted floor press down with my toes and put both arms into pulling off the stupid screen!

Oh, make sure the screen you're removing is clean and dry or else the tape won't get a good bond.

I did it to mine with no trouble. Not sure what else to tell you. I knicked the outer plastic just abit (barely noticeable) but it's been fine for me ever since. I guess just try to find a weak spot and got for it.

You can get those very same hooks with the double sided adhesive at hardware and home improvement stores like Home Depot and Lowes. 3 or 4 for a buck, can't go wrong there.

For the Nomad you need to follow the manufacturers instructions for replacing the screen (at least mine came with them). You need to use a hair dryer and put it on low or medium and hold it over the screen to heat up the glue so you can pry the screen off. Then clear the area where you removed the screen with alcohol and apply the new screen. Make sure you have a can of compressed air handy so you can make sure there is no dust on the LCD or replacement screen before putting it down otherwise you with have dust underneath and it will bug the hell out of you.
