When you join a usergroup, doesn't it show up like any other forum? There are usergroups for shmups and 2D fighters (among others) available. Maybe these need to be promoted more.

Shmups! I've been binging on them for the past few months and would like to see discussion of the more easily obtained 'domestics'. Though the import forum has been great for bringing new and very splendid selections to my attention I would have never heard of otherwise, I crave a full steak plate rather than mere soup stock.

I think the usergroups got dropped a while back due to low amounts of people.

I'd be all about a 2d fighters forum, although when I original made the remark, it was for 2d fighters AND shmups forum, together.

I think that the Imports forum is still very important, and don't want to see it go. There are always tons of questions about import stuff (what is good, what can I play, language barrier, etc). And since there are always new imports coming out, it's important.

That being said, if it's time for something new, maybe arcade would be nice.

I definitely think that an arcade forum would be perfect here. People could share tricks, reminisce, sell, or whatever. This is pretty much the only thing that we are missing here.

I know; it just seemed like they were far too different beasts. But it's not like my silly little poll is the final say or anything. ;-)

As much as I'd love a shmup forum, an arcade one would be of much more practical use.

A lot of people on here seem to be into collecting, building and restoring arcade units - and a forum dedicated to this would be of great value to the roundtable.

RPG = Really Pathetic Games. Definatly doesn't deserve its own forum. :P LOL

Honestly though. Arcade games are expensive, and big investments. I think there should be a forum to discuss the game before you make a huge investment, or throw away over 1 grand.
I think making one for a genre would greatly take away from posts in the Video game Forum. :o

Having an Arcade forum kinda covers shmups and fighters anyways... pretty much all the really good shmups and fighters were arcade games anyways.

I think the arcade one would make a good permanent addition, while some of those others listed would be good "de jour" forums to be around for a month or two and get rotated.

I think an arcade forum would be a great place for information about collecting, restoring, and talking about video games and arcades. A forum about RPGs is just going to be a bunch of polls about what the best Final Fantasy was or how long have you spent gaming at one time ... it just doesn't seem like to me those other topics have the staying power that an Arcade forum would have. How many topics can you start about shmups?

We had shmups and 2d fighter forums for a while but then they were taken down for some reason. The user groups still exist for them.

And an arcade forum wouldn't?

If you want arcade restoration, the restoration forum works, as does the normal video game forum.
