Had fruit in sections of 3...
Like banana's apples, plums...
Was it columns?
Played like Columns...

You're not thinking of Baku Baku are you? Where there are different types of fruits and then also different creatures. And if you land the creature next to it's staple diet then it will eat them all away?

Baku Baku (from Sega) is the first thing i thought when i read the title. Found one screenshot (http://www.sega-saturn.com/saturn/software/pics/baku-02.jpg) (Saturn)
It was on Gamegear and Saturn (i like that version) and also on PC and a wireless device i found out on IGN, but i never saw one of those two.

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Columns. I remember playing it with either some option turned on to make it all fruit, or when you get to a certain level stuff turns into fruit. I've definitely seen what you're talking about, and I've never seen/heard of Baku Baku ;)
