Okay, I thought that I had finally installed a new, working connector but now I'm having problems. It worked fine with the first cart I put in. When a game is in, you can see the game on the TV between this perfectly-spaced pattern of dashes. They run from the top to the bottom of the screen and aren't at all random. It is a PERFECT pattern. Any ideas as it does the same thing with every one of the 7 carts I've tried so far icluding the one that worked fine at first.... :o
Thanks,
Laura

I would try opening up the Nintendo again and reseating the connector. It seems like some pins are crossed or something- I'd also look around any of the exposed circuit board and make sure the metal RF shielding (that steel plate looking thing) isn't screwed down improperly and bridging across something it shouldn't.
With the Nintendo bear in mind you can screw down things tighter than they were actually meant to be, and that can mess things up.

Okay, I have it totally open and I reseated the connector and I have the same problem (with no screws in, shield on, etc.). If it helps, the "pattern" is actually in front of the cartridge picture. I put in Barker Bill's and you can see the characters moving behind the pattern. Ugh, I just want to play my games!

If it was me, I'd toss the mobo and grab another. Mobo level repairs aren't really worth the time when numerous replacements are to be had.
Snag a crappy looking one from a thrift for $5, and yank it's mobo.

I wish that was an option but I am a major Thrift Store rat and I have NEVER seen one at a Thrift yet. I'm in Houston, Tx, a damn big city and nada...I've snagged some other systems (not cheap, mind you) but no sign of a NES.
