Last week, I ordered an AC Adaptor for the Genesis model 1 from www.midwest-games.com , and I finally received it yesterday. Unfortunately, they sent me the wrong item. Instead, I received an AC Adaptor for the original model Turbo Grafx 16 (US version). Now, as some of you know, the Genesis adaptor output is 9V... but this Turbo Grafx adaptor I received says the output is 10.5V. Now, I'm not really willing to take a chance in using this thing in my Genesis because of the differences in voltage.

Anyway, I emailed the site and explained the problem, and they tell me that they'll buy me a new Genesis if the adaptor fries my system. So, what would happen if I hooked this thing into my Genesis? Would it fry it?

As has been noted before, you don't have to pay as much attention to Volts as you do to polarity and watts.
And to answer your question , yes the tg-16 power supply will work with the Genesis.

The TG16 adaptor says 15W, and my friend's Sega adaptor reads 18W. So, it's still safe?

Yep, I just made my kids play some Genesis games with the TG-16 AC hooked up for 15 minutes to make sure.

As long as the watts or volts aren't extremely different (I'd say over 30%) It's fine.

But like I said , I've had it playing over 15 minutes and it's fine.

And an internet search confirmed that it works perfectly.

I'm flattered you went through all that trouble to help me out. I thank you very much for the info. :)

No problem ..... :D

I'm " ONLY " watching the Super Bowl. Nothing important as my Jaguars aren't in it. LOL

I hear ya. I'm sorta watching it... but it's not nearly as exciting cuz my Colts didn't make it. Stupid Patriots...

So, I'm using this time to screw around with the Genesis.
